Mechanics surrounding immediately getting caught
Not too long ago, my latest plan to escape Fhurst Peak was brought to an end when a guard found a door I had unlocked with a plastic key. Normally, I'd be fine with this, since finding half of a plastic key stuck in a lock would probably raise any guard's suspicions. However, the circumstances under which this particular arrest happened defied all logic and left me very frustrated.

The plan was as follows:
  1. Place a bed dummy in the cell bed to fool the guards
  2. Leave cell before they lock for the night
  3. Put on a guard uniform to avoid suspicion
  4. Open the entrance with a plastic entrance key
  5. Open the staff door ouside the entrance with a plastic staff key
  6. Use a grappling hook to scale the main wall out of any guard's sight and escape

Everything was going to plan up until I unlocked the entrance doors. While I was attempting to leave through the newly-unlocked door, a guard on a random patrol route happened to blunder into the door. Instantaneously, I found myself inside a solitary confinement cell with a smug letter from the warden informing me that the guards had found my unlocked door and (somehow) linked it back to me.

The reason this left me feeling so unsatisfied wasn't so much because my escape attempt nine days in the making had failed and sent me back to square one (though that may have been a factor), but more because I was immediately teleported to the SHU without so much as a chance to run from the suspicious guard that had found the sabotaged lock. I can understand automatically being sent down if a guard reports a missing key or something of the sort, but the fact that I was simply transported to the solitary cells despite being in full disguise and having a stand-in dummy in my cell bed during a night escape utterly defies all logic. I can only imagine that my prisoner had a sudden change of heart upon noticing the guard looking at him funny as he passed through the sabotaged door, then proceeded to confess to all of his crimes and proudly offered his shameful behind to the guard for a rightly-deserved beating.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that I'm really hoping these 'instant game over' mechanics are going to be phased out later in development. Having my escape thwarted by getting surrounded or trapped is one thing, but simply being teleported to the naughty corner without so much as a chance to run for it really makes me not want to try again.

That is eh...should not happen.

Ya, immedietly getting caught is an idea with a few flaws to say the least. To avoid this one in particular, lock the door after you go through the entrance by using the key on the unlocked door.

It doesn't bug me as much that they can see something wrong and know that it's you, but when you are halfway over the wall when they discover it, it shouldn't magically capture you. They should have to search the prison to find you. This way if you are halfway to escape, you could be gone before they find you. Of course this would be much harder to program.

It would not be very hard to program especially in this game environment, The coding for this kind of game is alot less than that of a much more complex game like The Forest

I've run into many similar issues, mostly while trying to instigate riots.
Case 1 and 2
- Magazine in place, blocking hole
- bed dummy in place
-nunchucks equipped

Case 1
-equips police uniform, goes out and instigates prison takeover
-takes a few keys, ropes up guards
Despite this, and the fact that I had knocked out most of the guards, and the fact that the ones I had knocked out were tied up, I was instantly sent to solitary for stealing keys.

Case 2
-equips plated POW uniform due to lack of police uniform (due to aforementioned solitary)
-has two sleeping pills
-knocks out two guards
-sneaks up behind third guard
Before I can take him out, I'm sent to solitary. This being seconds after knocking out the other two guards...again, with sleeping pills!

The Instant catch mechanics are absolutely terrible that would never happen. When more Polished Prison Architect Escape Mode Exists it will crap on this game completely.

i hope escapist 2 will do it more like if they catch you with the key then you go to solitary

I really think that enough people are upset with this mechanic of the game that they will make the guards actually have to catch you in The Escapists 2. I hope they do. Also, I hear that they will add plenty of new mechanics and graphics to the game as well.
