How do stepladders work?

use it like a regular item on a ground tile. Right cick picks it back up

So can you pick them up when you're in the vents? Been trying to figure out how to drop in and out of the vents without standing on desks

There is a bug where they don't work sometimes.
Quit and reload and sometimes it starts working again.

maybe you could make it so crafting rope and/or bedsheet rope with a stepladder puts a rope up in the top of the vent if its open so when you climb up into the vent you can use the rope to pull the stepladder up with you?.
