Bad Lag

Kinda along the lines of a discussion already, just wanted to know if you can build way too much for the server to handle. Been just enjoying my single player game it had had some issues and i have had reply's and just accepted it. So i decided to change the beach in the starter area by flattening it lol and have built a huge home and pub and a church etc and extending into a township and i am having to plant and chop hundreds and hundreds of trees and all the dirt, sand and rocksI am now having a freeze and really bad lag just wanted to know if maybe its time to quit as i may have expecting it to still run good.

There have been servers that have had seriously bad lag due to too many insane builds but on a singleplayer map the lag is more likely due to either really big ships that aren't anchored or too many unanchored ships, as well as an over population of animals that have gone out of control (usually crabs in the shallow water and sometimes rabbits). Anything with many overlapping entities can cause issues too, mass plantings of trees and plants for example or buildings that aren't very well optimised.

Thanks again for the info i am still loving this build so i will have to see what i can do to reduce it maybe a start will be all the mass planting of trees.

Hopefully you can narrow down what the cause could be. If you use an FPS counter might help if you notice where the lag starts or gets the worst. There is an in-built counter if you type /dui in the chat window

Oh nice thanks i will check that out and i will check the rabbits too. I just put it on pause and went to put washing out came back and it was happening again so its a AHHHH moment indeed.
