There is a neoprene diving suit, but I don’t think that provides much warmth - though the Flippers will give you speed.
The sharks you could lure away, but you’ll be better off just killing them... jump in water and straight back out to make them come close enough that you can bosh them on the nose!
Do you know if they will they respawn, or is it possible to make an area safe?
Also, the underwater build will either be small enough for you to explore it quickly, or large enough for you to find somewhere to hide :)
Although I agree that this would be a solution and would never tell you how to play your game, I do at least attempt to play the game the way it's intended to be played. I find cheesing my way through situations such as these to be about as satisfying as cheating at solitaire.
Hopefully the devs do some more work on them during alpha because it takes allot away from the game imo
Well, to follow up on this, I found an extremely effective way (after crafting the breathing mask, neoprene suit, neoprene pants, flippers, and cold resistance potions) to clear an area of sharks and make it safe to dive.
First I parked my boat so the ladder is right above my dive site. Then, wearing the armor that gives me the most protection, I get in the water and stay close to my ships ladder. When a shark approaches, I climb up and snipe it from my deck or a gangplank I added. Rinse, repeat. When you can get in the water and no sharks come, it's safe to put on your underwater gear and go for a swim!
Plus, you can't use any weapons underwater, so if you go in when it's clear and you're all the way at the bottom, you might as well say goodnight irene if sharks show up : /
