Official I guess, it's dedicated through g-portal.us. Uses a key from my bohemia account and everything.
I'd wait until they put more work into the server software before paying for a dedicated host.
Anything you lost is on your host and up to them to fix or figure out.
I guess I'll just wait a while for them to fix up the dedicated server before I attempt to host again. Thanks for the answers.
G-Portal didn't do it, mine is working fine when properly configured. You have to initially set the server up to start new game in the chosen mode (explorer or creative), then change the DsConfig.json to use the existing save file on restart.
Nitrado has a different issue where the Ylands servers there are overwriting the config files on every restart, making it impossible to switch to Explore and continue a game, because it resets the config no matter what settings you use.
All that said, what APerfidiousDane said still applies - the dedicated server is considered experimental and the Ylands devs aren't condoning these commercial rentals at this time.
Note: It is possible to configure the server to keep the map after a clean shutdown.

Wait. Nope, that seems to be a completely outdated version.
This way when the server resets every day, it'll keep the old file in place.
However, as others have said before me, the servers are unstable. I did it for a time with my spouse, but the starving while offline outside a barrier and the map resetting every time I relogged was too much for me.
I'm not working in single player as it looks like the isue with MP maps and starving aren't being addressed as well as they should.
It's a shame since the game runs a lot better on our server than on a high performance PC.
