Looking For Build Design Suggestions
I've just been playing around building to see how things work together to make a systematic structure for how to design things in the future. The first thing I built for this outing was a stone lookout area that was on top of an out cropping. The overall design came out pretty good.

I was kind of lost on where to go from there, so I next worked on building a wood platform to house all the building equipment. I original planned to build on the group of small islands and had a work station built of bamboo, but I abandoned that once I discovered the game turn materials invisible when submerged while building until placed.

So I'm stuck creative wise on where to go from here.

Here's some pix:

On the last pic I was thinking about updating the wood platform to stone to match the rest and then have the wood start from the stairs.

Thanx!

Well for one you will need a 4 times if not more bigger building if you want one working room with all stations and some storage.
Then, if you are a hoarder of mats like me, you will need storage..ALOT of storage.
So far, for an outpost what you have looks good thou.
You want the spade, instead of the pick, and the shovel, to flatten an area. And dont be shy with filling in that water which submerges stuff, make it gone!^^

You have to go underwater to see stuff in water.
We also need to be able to turn building items by smaller increments, like you do with a chest.
And we need curved wall sections so we can make round towers, arched bridges etc.
And it would be nice to get a higher resolution pack.

I'm working on a green house to put crops in made from bamboo and glass. And I am planning to do customized buidling for different stations/materials. So I am doing a stone structure for my blacksmith station and ore and then and wooden structure to store my tree materials and leather so it's going to be like a hunters lodge. Still haven't decided how I'm going to do my main house. I just wish I had the ability to manipulate water to make like a waterfall or a backyard pond.

If you sync your explorer game with the editor you can i think?

I decided to build a tower that gets entered by a bridge. This also gave me a chance to figure out a good standard design for building stone stairs. I think I figured out the best height for the way I like to build the foundation for floors (panel with medium cubes connecting diagonally). The height is 8 tiles high. I wish it was 7 (current design), but the animation when going down stairs causes the movement to stop if there is a panel over the bottom of the stair landing. I also don't like the fact is throws off the overall design because the floor for each level throws off the vertical pattern.

On the plus side at having it at 8 is that it only takes the space of 8x8 tiles to make a stone staircase that goes from level to level. I'll have to see if the pattern works going up 2 flights of stairs.

Well, anyways, heere's some pix. This design doesn't use the 8 height rule, so you can see what I'm talking about when it comes to stair head space.

With the bridge part I plan to add a center column for support.

I've finished the bridge. For those interested the wood are from pier beams.

One thing I did learn after looking at new stone pieces is that there's a 2x4x1 stone. I wish I knew about it earlier because it would have made floor construction way easier. This is the reason why the game needs better block descriptions.

Learned a new lesson. Always push walls out to give more space to hallways. I messed up on my tower and it would take like 7-10 game days to break 2 stone wall sections I built. Oh, well!

I also updated the bridge by adding wood beam supports. Its nothing necessary, but it does give the bridge character.

Sorry, for not posting pix I'll make them next time.

Working with stone myself, it is a royal PITA to misplace.
Solution: load your explorer game in the editor, remove the offending stone block and save as "same name as explorer game". The editor will from now on allways take the newest save when you load it, making it easy to remove stones.
Until the DEVS come up with a better solution i use this one as i dont want to waste my time hammering for hours on a misplaced stone block.

The bridge is fantastic! and the tower gave me good ideas for the towers I'm building
