Placing beams 45 degree angle to look like support beams
I can rotate the beam to a 45 dgree angle but cannot get it to stay there, is this even possible?
tryign to make a support strut for a balcony

You can free-place it into any position you like. Either by using "V" or finding the action in the radial menu, which is activated by pressing "E".

Check your keyboard mapping. Others reported some strange behaviour and it boiled down to a double keymap.
