What's the point of the Tesla Coil other than to kill myself?

I just got into energy, built a wind generator and placed a Tesla Coil next to it, now every time I go near it, it kills me. Kinda sucks that it's right next to my house.

After dying 3 times, It finally stopped shocking me, perhaps because it was raining? So I destroyed it with an axe. Still not sure what its purpose is.

Shooting it with a cannon sounds like more fun.

Purpose is probably something like MP base defense. Though you could set up a carnivore trap, with a bear trap and a tesla coil for SP entertainment!

Use it to kill other players! It seems like a fun way to defend your base in certain locations.

Now I just gotta figure out how to actually be able to access all my old stuff. My horse says friendly, but can't feed or ride him. Can't open any storage containers, but I can sleep on my bed.

that is because tesla coil is used to produce the power, the power originates from a tesla coil via a ocillator
