Best Storage Containers?

Get some nails, planks and a hammer, the alchemist chest are okay.

Yes, bamboo chests are some of the best I have seen, but I only had bamboo on one of four islands I visited.
I now craft tall dressers/pantry.

15-slot storage is largest size and includes:

* Alchemist Chest
* Bamboo Chest
* Bank Safe
* Egyptian Chest
* Oriental Chest
* Stone Chest

Although Wicker basket is not largest, it is small and easy to place so i usually have one next to each crafting station, it takes little room and allows me to organize by "uses". they are also easy to place in small clusters here and there without using up too much space, so I still use wicker baskets the most. Also, it is REALLY hard to run out of sticks and ropes.

I got lucky on my starter island, bamboo forests, rain forests and tons of food everywhere. Found a treehouse with a bed that's where I've set up camp. Built a few bamboo chests, they seem to be the easiest to build. I'm trying to build a more permanent structure now for storage, like a warehouse or something. Can you put chests on shelves?

You can stack shelves on eachother, and hang them from walls, so I dont see why you couldnt place them on racks.

With this 0.8 update, they say that the storage slots have been changed.
...so what are the changes? Can anybody make a list of containers and their respective new slots?

Store Container Slots (as of update 0.8):

Bamboo Chest - 15 slots
Wicker Basket - 9 slots
Sack - 6 slots
...
...

(Somebody else should continue this in creative mode.)

I didn't notice any changes to be honest. I think the container that were increased are the ones you can hold in your inventory.

Stone chest is still the best @ 18 slots.
