compass, how does it work ?

Does it always point towards coins or should I only look at the ball flashing red?

Or does it only point towards the coins when its flashing?

it always points north, not towards items.
the ball flashes red when there's coins nearby, and the fish flashes when there's fish nearby

Why people forget that a compass is about pointing North?
