Wipeout is a Triple-A title with a budget at least 50x higher than ours, so as you can expect we had to take shortcuts here and there and we focused mainly on the action and the gameplay. On the other hand Wipeout games usually cost $50-60 when released and FLASHOUT is much cheaper. Also our game, while very often compared to the Wipeout series, is a bit differend and focused more on action and arcade-feeling. Cheers!
I bought the first WipeOut for the ps1 when released in 1994 or 1995 for 29 D-Mark (its now about 15 Euros)!
WipeOut has 60 fps!
WipeOut on steam is what I am dreaming about!!!!!!
It was developed by SCE Studio Liverpool. It's obvious it's going to stay a PS exclusive. And those guys closed down in 2012, so WipeOut is no more.
I'm not sure if Wipeout cost €15 when launched however €15 is ~$20 and let's not forget the inflation because it was 20 years ago. Let's say the inflation was of 3% each year since then and you get $36 if you compare it to today's prices;). Last but not least - making games was way cheaper back then and the first Wipeout was much smaller than for example Wipeout HD, there was no online multiplayer, etc. really this is something incomparable, studios and teams were smaller, graphics were not that advanced, and so on, and so on ;). Today's Triple-A titles are much more expensive to make and usually cost $50 or more at launch - this is the reality we live in;).
