If you don't pay for a subscription (which is admittedly pretty cheap), you run in to a few points while leveling that you -will- run out of quest content and be forced to mob grind solely to level. (This is because subscribers are given a +25% bonus experience buff that comes with a couple other bonuses as well.)
Otherwise, not P2W in the least.
Class balancing is pretty much non-existant, as far as PvP goes. Here's an example:
Mages can:
*Attack you at range and kill you before you realize what's happening. With one spell. (Which can be talented to also apply a debuff to you for 10% of the overall damage, which is a lot by itself.)
*Have absurdly powerful talents (you get a 25% damage increase for ONE POINT in the bottom of the tree; this is after other "spell power" talents that cost multiple points, but obviously do the same thing. The one in question is just a flat 25% damage increase across the board. The spell power talent also affects spell healing, I believe.)
*Can use shields, so they can benefit from tank abilities that require shields (such as Righteous Defense, which is a low-duration damage reduction buff, piled on top of Plasma Shield (Mage-only defensive cooldown that causes damage to hurt your mana instead of health, up to 10% of your mana))
*Heal to 100% (from any amount of health) with one cooldown. Also have access to the typical smaller heal that will still heal them for about 25-30% of their health in the event the big heal isn't available.
*Said cooldown, Cauterize, can be reduced to an absurdly low cooldown by also being able to branch off in to the Prophet (healer) tree! (On top of stacking Spell Haste; up to the 80% cap)
*Overall just dominate anyone without trouble at all.
This was, however, before I quit playing. As far as I know, some new content (level 47 cap) has been released, and maybe those issues have been addressed, but I doubt it. Addressing the Spell Haste stat itself would solve most of the above issues with casters, but I sincerely doubt it's been dealt with. Having a 100% heal on a 12 second cooldown, on top of massive amounts of utility and unparalleled damage, is just broken. (Again, those cooldown levels assume you're haste capped, which most aren't, but are very, very close to it thanks to passives from the Mage tree.)
So if you want to PvP at all, just make a Mage and branch off in to the Prophet tree. It doesn't take many points in the Prophet tree (I think the last talent you need from it is the one that causes your debuff removal ability to remove 2 debuffs, and have a cooldown of 5 seconds, before haste.)
Rangers are about the next best as far as PvP goes, but this assumes you can play Rangers to 100% of their potential (and have the correct PvP-centered talents). Mages will still smoke you, though. (No pun intended.)
Assassins are probably the next on the list, with multiple stacking DoTs (Lacerate can be talented to stack 5 times, plus Rupture, plus another debuff or two), and high evasion.
Warriors are, or were, pretty much bottom of the barrel. They hit hard, yes, but after the initial onslaught you're left hitting like a limp ♥♥♥♥ while the other class decimates you. If you're lucky, and catch someone off guard, you'll kill them; or if you have a healer pocketing you. Otherwise, not so great.
Over all, PvP is (was, maybe?) broken as ♥♥♥♥ with casters being the center of said ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Otherwise the game is pretty fun, but got boring for me really quick once reaching the level cap and getting the best armor available. The crafting is extraordinarily time-consuming, so if you like that kind of thing, have at it. It's also a decent way to make money, as people are looking to have things crafted for them all the time, and usually tip for your time.
The community itself, though... is pretty hit or miss. There are your typical awful trolls, the PvP kids that use said broken-as-♥♥♥♥ build above, and brag about being better than everyone, and then everyone else. I'd say 75% of the time you'll encounter friendly folks, but be prepared for the not-so-friendly, also.
That is a clear bonus which helps progession and gives advantages. With the game design been so grindy if your going to play ur probably going to sub at some point. It may not be majorly p2w but it does have some components.
As for the game I would not reccomend it. There are so many bugs, limited content etc, very unbalanced, small community etc,
The game doesnt even have jump... even most 1980s games had jump feature...
they should at least let people to jump, btw the game seem to me that it is dying. It used to have more people back then playing
that is pay for convinience not p2w, p2w involves paying to get an advantage at pvp.
