Co-Op Crashing while joining a friend
Cheers, I'm trying to join my friend in Co-Op, but when I accept the invite my game starts loading and crashes, some fix?

Only way I'm able to join co-op is by restarting the pc and going straight into FC4. I don't start any other programs, otherwise I get a crash to desktop once it finds a session.

Having tried multiple times again, it turns out the method I described was just fluke. It just seems to come down to dumb luck if you can join a player. I've tried joining one friend multiple times without success, then it just randomly worked once. We tried multiple times after that session and it didn't work anymore. Seems like you just have to keep trying.

Hey guys,

Sorry to hear that you crash while trying to play co-op.

To rule out some common causes I have some tips I would advise trying below:

- Try to have both the game and Ubisoft Connect and Steam on the same drive
- Add Ubisoft Connect and the game to your anti-virus/firewall whitelist
- Complete the steps in our dedicated troubleshooting guide [ubi.li]
- Ensure your network is configured [ubi.li] for the game

Should this then persist, can I check when this started happening and whether you are connected using WiFi or directly?

Many thanks

This is so ridiculous I tried for hours connecting with a friend in a friends only coop session.
Then we had the Idea to just open a coop session while the other one is searching for a open coop session and almost instantly I had a(nother) coop partner.
It keeps happening, if I try to connect with a friend it doesnt work but when Ich create or join an open coop session it works almost flawlessly however all the coop partners I get act like they dont know that I only do that to unlock the changing lanes achievement!
Trust me Ubisoft is nothing but trolling here!
I don't understand either it's beyond me.. a few nights ago when me and my friend tried to play for the first time he could join after me having to do port forwarding for this game apparently, ok let's say that's not such a big issue. The next day when we tried to play again he just simply couldn't join anymore no matter what, his game keeps crashing to desktop everytime he tries to join me. And we tried every solution we could find on Google and nothing worked. I don't understand why Ubisoft can't make a functioning game.. make a game coop but the coop ain't fully functional good job.

try a VPN if you can't get your network to open ports
Experiencing this issue right now. Friend cannot join me. Their game crashes the second I invite them.

Edit: We were able to get it to work. All we had to do was this: my friend fully exited steam and booted the game from ubisoft connect, which launched steam and opened the game. He was able to join me without crashing.

Same with me, my bro, and a friend. I'm on Win 10; they are both on 11. We've tried various combos. Every once in a while, it works, but rarely. Yesterday, the two 11 PCs played 3 maps. Today, they can't. We've all checked that HDR is off (a microsoft suggestion). Mine is, and theirs are 'Not Supported,' so effectively off. We were playing coop on custom maps frequently; now we can't. My bro and I were unable to play coop campaign as well. We tried the Valley of the Yetis yesterday, and it started, stuttered, then crashed. Today, it was the ONLY thing that worked. There isn't much of a pattern in all this. If anything, it crashed sooner after each try. As I was writing this, my friend rebooted and launched the game as the first app and my bro was able to host a coop with him. Strange, since Cosmic said it working that way seemed to be a fluke. This is REALLY weird.

BTW, my bro and I have the original box version (not Steam), though we both had the title linked to Steam so we could let each other watch a broadcast. But, Discord broadcasting works better, and bro no longer able to launch from Steam (since switching to Win 11), so we both disassociated the game from Steam. Point is, it appears to be broken at the Ubi level, and Steam is just a layer over that. I still make FC4 custom maps (I know, many are clunkers), so a real bummer for me. Maybe server(s) corrupted, or Ubi has reduced the number available.

This is what helped for me and a friend:

If u want to join ur friend open up a OFFLINE session. {wait until the game has loaded}
Then let them open an ONLINE session.
When that works without crashing accept a STEAM invite for the ONLINE session.
And u should be able to join.
Reverse if they want to join u.

Hope it works for u aswell :)
Worked: 27/02/2025.
