Uplay is the default Digital platform for all newer Ubisoft titles .. even if you buy the game on DVD it uses Uplay and yes Steam = the third party DRM .. not Uplay
since the DVD version does not use steam at all
1.if you buy the DVD version of the game it has 1 DRM ... UPLAY... no Steam involved
2.if you buy the game on AMAZON it has 1 DRM ... UPLAY.... no Steam involved
3.if you buy it direct from UBISOFT it has 1 DRM .. UPLAY ...no Steam involved
4.if you buy the game on greenman gameing it has 1 DRM .. UPLAY ....no Steam involved
5.if you buy the game on get games go it has 1 DRM ... UPLAY .. no Steam involved
6.if you buy the game on newegg it has 1 DRM ..UPLAY ...no Steam invloved
7.if you buy the game on gamers gate it has 1 DRM ... Uplay ...no Steam involved
if you buy it on Steam your forced into..2 DRM's - Steam + Uplay as your DRM's as both clients must be open to run the game
plus if you buy the game on Steam you must buy all your DLC and season pass ON Steam for it to work
Uplay is not a problem if you configure it properly ..just like any other software you install on your system.
make sure you download and Install the updated version of the Uplay client.
https://uplay.ubi.com (click where it says Download Uplay on PC)
(the version that comes with the game may possibly be outdated as they do update it)
open Uplay Activate your game and make sure you write down the Email Address and Password you use to create your Uplay account
(they are case sensitive too so keep that in mind .. when coming up with a password)
again - Write down your Uplay account e mail and Password and store in a safe place!
Remember to check the box that says remember me when you first log in Uplay and you don't have to enter it again.
(your cd key is stored in your steam games library , just right clik on your game and select View cd key to find it )
your Cd key is only good for 1 use ..after you enter it... it will be tied to the Uplay account you activated your game on,
and not be needed again and can not be used again.
next open Uplay ..go to Uplay settings and Disable the cloud save setting (i highly suggest you do this)
as well as Disable the in game overlay if your not gonna use it
(dont worry your saves will be stored on your local hard drive and you can back them up if you need to move to a new pc)
instructions are here https://support.ubi.com/en-US/FAQ/9/3888/how-can-i-manually-back-up-my-save-game/kA030000000enCFCAY
minimize Uplay and launch the game via Steam ...your cd key Window pops up and you select Play
Uplay will then Auto launch when ever you start your game in Steam and you never have to deal with it again
if the master servers do go down for any reason
(yes it happens some times but not that often)
just open Uplay and click on your name and choose offline mode ,
minimize Uplay and launch your game via Steam and play Single player
you can download it here https://uplay.ubi.com/
did you not read my post directly above yours ? it says
make sure you download and Install the updated version of the Uplay client.
https://uplay.ubi.com (click where it says Download Uplay on PC)
(the version that comes with the game may possibly be outdated as they do update it)
STEP 1 back up your save files
NEXT ..
..rename your cache folder in Ubi connect software ..and reinstall the client from the Ubi connect website
see this page on how to uninstall and reinstall Ubi connect
https://support.ubisoft.com/en-US/Article/000063173
also as i told ya last time make sure your PC meets the games system requirements
last time you posted about an issue with FC 4 you only had a dual core CPU .. they are not supported

But please take care in future not to revive old, inactive threads as we do aim to keep the forums as current as possible.
There are also no current plans to remove Ubisoft Connect as requirement to play Far Cry 4, but we'll pass your comments on as feedback.
If there's anything more we can answer or assist with, please do let us know!
