Guide..: No sound fix

TIP..: Be aware this guide is from 2015 and i dont know if it work anymore or the sound bug have been fixed since.

SOUND FIX..:

FarCry 4 No Sound FIX
1- Go to the System32 folder and SysWOW64 ( If you have ) and delete THIS audio files

"x3daudio1_0.dll to x3daudio1_7.dll " (you need to delete 7 files )
and
"XAudio2_0.dll to XAudio2_7.dll". ( you need to delete 7 files.)

2- Go in the game folder , Far Cry 4 \ Support \ Software \ DirectX and install a DXSETUP .
( i recommend right click and run as admin ).

3 Restart the PC .

4- Play. Hope this helps .

( I run my game with sound blaster Z with 5.1 sorround sound and DTS enabled without issues now after deleting the files and running DXSETUP that copy some new files to windows.)..:


If the above did not solve your problem then you can try some other fixes

Right click the loudspeaker icon in the lower right corner of your screen.
Select your sound card and change the settings so the playback will be
24bit 48000hz Many people write that this solve their problem.

You can also try to change your sound settings to play in "stereo" instead of 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound.

You can also try to open your sounds card software program and turn off DTS and other features to see if this help.

Is those fixes resolve the missing ambient music when free roaming ?

I'm using windows 10.
The ambient music (when free roaming) won't play in Far Cry 4 UNLESS you're near a bell tower.
Unfortunately, the above solution didn't work for the ambient music problem.
As much as I'd like to do the rest of the solutions, I just have a few questions:

I right clicked the loudspeaker icon in the lower right corner of my screen, but there is no sound card settings. Where are the sound card settings?
Where do you change the sound settings to play in stereo?
I tried looking up the locations of both the sound card settings and where you set the sound to stereo, but I didn't find any actual solutions.

Can anyone help me with this please?

The guide is almost 6 years old and i am a bit surprised that the developers of the game have not yet fixed the problem ;-( but i hope someone can help you.

Yeah.... Thanks for trying to help me, though.
So apparently, for the ambient music to work, you have to downgrade the version of the game.
When Ubisoft patched the game to its recent version, the ambient music apparently crashed the game, so Ubisoft decided to remove it entirely.
How the music crashes the game is beyond me.

MEG Unify X570 Motherboard.
Xonar U7.

Tried with Xonar U7, onboard Realtek, and even via the Xbox One Controller using the headphones. Also tried disabling all other outputs like the AMD output, the Monitor's output, etc.

Still no go.

This is the only game that has no audio no matter what and it's quite frustrating that can't find a solution.

and you can add system files as well

i do not own your sound setup sorry but i can say its not that hard to configure your sound device in windows to make the game work properly

and yes you will need to use 5.1 sound or stereo settings as the game does not support surround sound ..it came out in 2014 like that ..and no that's not likely to change

Thank you for the continuous correspondence. I have placed the ticket and explained my problems.

Unfortunately, the basic troubleshooting guide was of no help. I followed all the other options like deleting the xaudio files and re-installing the DirectX, disabled Dolby, placed in stereo mode with lower audio frequencies, tried with a multitide of audio output testings within my setup, disabled unused HDMI outputs, etc, but nothing worked.

I remember I had similar issue with this game even with my previous desktop system - Asus Rog Strix H370-F Gaming motherboard.

But what I haven't tried was running it under Linux. I don't know why I never thought of that, but I'm running Arch Linux too, so I installed Steam and checked this game in Linux, and ... it WORKS without issues! It even works with 5.1 digital output via my Xonar U7 coax output!

I know this is not the solution, but just a workaround, but I'm both tired trying to fix this in WIndows and happy that I can finally make it run in Linux (under Proton 7.0-1).
