so yea pretty much identical
as my asus rog strix Z 270H has the EXACT same sound chip and the game sound works fine
\
so yes i still think your issues is a driver problem or your windows audio settings
for audio drivers i use the ones from ASUS
DO NOT RELY ON WHAT MS WINDOWS INSTALLS
and sound settings are set to stereo speakers
(plugged into the green jack, on the back of my main board )
and yes it does WORK ....for plugging in my cheap head phones on my front panel head phone out put
be careful you may need to open your pc case and ensure you connected the front header ports correctly if you use stereo head phones
(yes its easy to plug it in backward and it may not work properly on an ASUS mainboard )
you can look up your header panel correctly ..and to the proper port and wires .. see your main board manual
Thanks for replying, but as I have said in my last post, the Asus motherboard was a previous one that I used and had problems. I am now using an MSI motherboard, as I have stated before my last post, which still had the same problem in Windows.
Anyway, now, I'm using my Arch Linux to run Far Cry 4, and now everything is working perfectly, and I can enjoy the game to the fullest.
It also works right out of the box without any sort of tinkering or workaround.
The latest Proton 7.0-1 seems to be very much improved and I can play more demanding 3D games from Steam in Linux.
Thank you for updating this thread to let everyone know using Arch Linux to run Far Cry 4 has solved this issue for you.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach back out.

Glad to see this has helped you too!

Initially I was using Nvidia Audio output and I wouldn't get any sound after the initial loading screens.
I switched to Realtek Audio Output and was getting stereo output and game sounds were OK.
Then I switched back to Nvidia Audio and tried reducing the sampling rate in Windows Audio settings from Dolby to 24Bit - 48000Hz and also turned off Spatial effects and Audio enhancements, and now the audio works and I get clean 5.1 output.
It seems to me that the game really doesn't like any up mixing software
Could the problem have been that my audio file was too new?
