Poor FPS with 3080Ti
Ok I know it's an old game, but come on 70 fps with dips to 50 fps, feels very laggy at time...

What CPU? I just started playing this again and I have an AMD 5800x3d CPU and RTX 3080 12g GPU. I have everything on Ultra and run 3440x1440 resolution. My frames run around 200 fps uncapped but I keep vsync on to run at my gsync monitor's 120hz refresh rate.

You don't get like 200 fps in games like FC 4/3 and they may run best on older HW. If the game drops you can just "lock" the framerate. You can "Tweak" the settings in the game
(settings) or use the NVIDIA Control Panel. You can find a performance test on Youtube;

FC 4 looks great even it's a old game.

I kept investigating and indeed the CPU was the problem. It seems my watercooling was not cooling anymore as looking at the temps I was getting a wapping 95°C (!!!) in FC4 on my 5600X. I Removed the water cooling and installed the default AMD cooler now i'm getting decent temp.

My wooler was the MSI 240R cooling, did not pass the 1 year mark. Seeing on the net lots of people having problem with this cooler. Definitely not recommending.

Thanks for your awnsers by the way issue now solved.

That'll do it. These AMD CPUs throttle at 90°C
