also NO you can not play the games main campaign in co op mode // co op is limited to exploring the open world and taking over outposts and doing some side missions only
the VOY DLC as well as escape from durgesh DLC do support co op mode .. as do custom maps // only if the map maker added the spawn points for 2 players in the map
and YES you need to ADD YOUR FRIENDS in your UBI connect application
Well for me didn't work anything until i tried that method with radmin vpn, i could finally play with my friends co op everytime thanks to NEKS but make sure u did everything right in the radmin vpn, works like logmein hamachi, just create a network and ur friend has to join the network u created
