Config File and Low Spec Problem-o's
I got this game after beating (and losing my saves) far cry 3. I loved the stealth, characters, environment, etc. I wanted to play Far Cry 4 afterwards because of the good reviews, new environment, and better gameplay all around. I did know that the game got new shaders, but the graphics were so similar that I shrugged it off and bought the game. 16 fps, all low settings, 720p. Returned to it today and got 20 fps, then tried it again and got 16 again in the same spot. 800x600p also sucked balls.

I've had this problem before with some other games and was able to find a work around it. It's so sad I have to go through all kinds of stuff for a game that looks nearly identical to work like the previous game. I went to a popular video game youtuber named "LowSpecGamer" who had the fixes for my problems neatly packed into a little copy paste thing I put in the gameprofile.xml folder (with a tiny bit of editing). I booted up the game with the gameprofile edited.... 1920x1080p all ultra settings. Set the folder to "read only" in properties and same problem, in fact it just made the game crash when trying to edit the settings.

Is this copy paste not right or bad? https://pastebin.com/ikLDPQub (there is no download, just a copy paste thing you put in the config file.) Is there anyway to make sure it ISN'T gonna change to default when I put it in? Is there a folder that actually works? I can use all the help I can get! :steamhappy:

thank you for the response, but I do know that this guy isn't something I shouldn't be messing with. I don't want to mess with the links you provided although I am grateful you took time out of your day to provide them. I was mainly wondering if there was a way to stop the settings from going back to default when using the config files, because that's really the problem I had issues with. Is there any way I could just get a small list of steps for this to NOT go back to the highest settings possible -Chill Birb <3

Ps. This is the video I keep refering too, shoulda put that in the description lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5LixVYHJm8

fair enough, but in fallout 4 he helped me out a ton with my steam paid game. I do think he's not bullcrap and isn't pulling legs. Your concern isn't being disregarded though. I even checked the file in the video and it is there, but the other stuff in the copy paste file isn't. I just copy pasted it into the gameprofile.xml and booted it up. Maybe I was just missing something lol.
