Himalayan brown bear locations?

Are these just a really rare spawn or is there a specific location I can find them at?

You will encounter brown bear ONLY in missions in high Himalayas, like "Sermon on the mount", 1st Hurk quest and some others. Only bear you can find in the main game world (one you can free roam) is a black bear.

Ah, you can also occasionally fight one in the Arena, but if you kill one there I don't think it will unlock him in your journal, like using D50 in the Arena doesn't add it to your inventory...

Well ♥♥♥♥, looks like I can't 100% the game then. That's a really annoying design decision to have it mission locked like that, with no indication that it could be missed, and no way of replaying them.

Oh, I thought you're at some early stage of the game and simply haven't done these missions yet... :)
It's strange that you haven't killed even one of the brown bears, since you had to meet at least a couple nose to nose... If your goal is to unlock everything, one of your rules has to be "when I see an animal I haven’t seen before, I have to kill it"... :)

Ah, wait, I think "King Min's Kyrat" entryes don't count for 100% completion, so it's not a brown bear that prevents you from gaining 100%...

There is a brown bear in the cave you go into to get one of the Longinus quest diamond boxes. But when you kill and skin it, it doesn't stay in there after the mission ends. Same with a few snow leopards you can kill high up in the snowy mountains.

I have the same issue, and I probably killed a Himalayan Brown Bear in that quest or whatever, but the whole saving for the game didn't go over from my old computer to my new (I had it on steam aswell) - and... well it got other bugs like I got unlimited ammo and things I've done before I have to redo and so on... so Himalayan Brown Bear is nowhere in free world? that's stupid :/

Then again this is special collectable not counting for 100%

Also I got 25 xp more than max and 91 KP over level 8 karma and can't go down to level 6 for the last weapon... rip

Gonna try to join another friend to see if it fixes stuff, but I doubt it

So it's not only vavle with CS:S that made Valve gift grab 2011 an impossible achievement to get, if you only knew how after it's to late, in this case, after u did the mission of if it glitched like my game did.

For the future humankind. The arena bear works pretty fine. Got frustrated after found out, that the bear lives only in the Himalayas. But then went to the arena to get 10 rank, played in endless mode for 2 times. At the first time, saw the bear between wave 10-15. At the second time saw him before wave 10. So, be fierce.
