ever since i had an 8 GB update for valley of the yetis i cant play, the game used to work fine.
as it lacks enough GPU power to run the game correctly

buy a better vid card ............. is all you can do ...
Your video card sucks.
That doesn't mean your card supports DX11. It just means you have DX11 installed on your system. AFAIK "GT" cards don't support DX11 whereas "GTX" cards do.
See here: It's a DX10 card.

DirectX DirectX 10.1, Shader 4.1
and no ...is not supported by far cry 4 ................nor is it a DX 11 GPU
I just downloaded FC4, however, I get "far cry has stopped working" as stated in this thread.
I've read through different forums/discussions, but unfortunately, haven't found a solution.
I have a brand new laptop with the latest specs, 2GB GPU, and DirectX version 12.
Please advise if there's a solution to this problem. Otherwise, I'll ask steam for a refund.
Lastly, do all the other games experience the same issue?
Thanks.
it does not matter if your laptop = NEW or OLD .... it matters if it meets the games minimum system requirements .. if its below them ..... no the game will not launch or run
Dual Core CPU's are not supported by FarCry 4 , this game requires a Quad Core CPU
some laptop as well as Desktop video chipsets also are not supported by the game
see the minimum system requirements on the store page
please do the following if your posting about an issiue with a game crashing or not starting,
post your FULL Steam System info .. this helps ... as no one can say what your problem may be until we know all of whats involved.. on YOUR system , we would only be guessing ....Ok ? thanks !
now look up top in steam look for where it says Help (right above the word LIBRARY)
(you will need to exit big picture mode if you have it active in Steam)
clik on that (it will open a drop down menu)
then clik system information
let that load , only takes a few seconds
once that loads with your system information
right clik on that window
then select all
then right clik again select copy
then when you post back
right clik and select paste on your reply

Driver: NVIDIA GeForce 940M < could be a problem i gotta see what the specs are on that GPU
DirectX Driver Name: nvd3dum.dll
Driver Version: 10.18.13.5384
DirectX Driver Version: 10.18.13.5384
Driver Date: 7 Aug 2015 < ======driver is a little out of date try to update it
OpenGL Version: 4.5
Desktop Color Depth: 32 bits per pixel
Monitor Refresh Rate: 60 Hz
DirectX Card: NVIDIA GeForce 940M
McAfee LiveSafe – Internet Security < may be blocking ports check your settings if that software includes any type of firewall
and also was YOUR Windows 10 installed as a Clean install or an Upgrade from a previous operating system ?
remember the system requirements do state laptop chips may work but are not supported
the 940 M only has a limited number of pixel and vertex shader units and also suffers from a low memory bandwidth since its got a 64 bit memory interface and uses older slower DDR 3 memory
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-940M.138027.0.html
so i'd try to update your video Driver FIRST .. especially if you installed win 10 as an upgrade from a previous OS
on some laptops the game may be trying to launch off your Intel video chip thats built onto your CPU
since your laptop includes
NVIDIA Optimus Update 2.5.12.11
thats what that software does .. is switch between an on board intel chip over to your Nvidia chip for games .. its possible that that that may not be occuring until you make that change in your Driver software
again newer drivers should help try nvidia driver version 359.06 i'd stay clear of the latest driver for now as it has some issues for many users
also try to get your driver update DIRECTLY from your laptop maker's website or contact them to find the right driver for your chipset as some laptop makers can refuse warraty service if you do not use drivers provided by them should something go wrong
and it has been reported by several users some Nvidia reference drivers with Windows 10 fry's out the laptop screen ..rendering it DEAD
its been a problem since windows 10's release
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/862417/geforce-drivers/windows-10-geforce-drivers-are-killing-samsung-and-lg-notebook-lcd-display-panels/
and Nvidia does include a warning when you download reference drivers from them about your laptop maker possibly refusing service
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/900924/geforce-drivers/geforce-hotfix-driver-359-12-for-geforce-860m-notebook-gpus-released-12-2-15-/
since it was released to fix specific laptop problems
