Shoot and aim suddenly not working & weapons won't stay in hand

Got the the game yesterday. Played for several hours with no problems. Made one change to keybinds (G for throw stuff). Everything worked fine after that change for about two hours and suddendly I can't keep a weapon in my hand for more than 3 seconds (it seems like I have holstered it and makes no difference whether it is weapon number 1,2,3,or 4) and when I have a weapon in my hand I can't fire the weapon with the left mouse button or aim with the right mouse button. When I start moving if I have a weapon in my hand it disappears. Mouse controls continue to work fine for movement.

I reset all FarCry4 controls to default - no effect.
I restarted FarCry4 - no effect.
I restarted Steam - no effect.
I restarted computer - no effect.
I unplugged mouse and replugged it - no effect.
I tried mouse in Borderlands Presequel and it works fine (both aiming and shooting)

Any ideas on what happened to my FarCry shoot and aim?

I went back again for another look and discovered that this mouse weirdness is restricted to a specifc area of the map. Everything works fine until I get near Tirtha. I tested this by putting a sniper rifle to my eye and walking across the bridge near the town. Everything works fine until I step off the bridge on the end closet to town, at which point the gun disappears and when selected again the gun will not fire or aim. Walk back onto the bridge and gun works fine. Walk off the bridge and the gun/mouse fails.

I tried coming down the hill into town and everything was working fine until I began to get close (about in the same "level" as the bridge). Once I reached a certain point on the map the gun disappears and/or fails to aim or fire. Turn around and go back up the hill gun performs properly.

I guess Tirtha is safe from me for a while!!!! I might just smash drive my vehicle into the center of town to see if my weapons work in town.

Same issue for me over a year later. after reading your post i checked my map and sure enough, was near Tirtha

there are several area's of the game that you can not use your weapons .. they are SAFE ZONES

some of these also have restricrted air space and you can not land your gyro copter at

ahh, that makes sense. I'm coming back to the game after a few months off so i must have forgotten. thanks for the reply
