Far Cry 4 Performance vs Far Cry 3
Hello, I dont know if there recent patches have helped anyone but I still seem to get horrible framerate on farcry 4 at times. Everything on ultra apart from shadows which are on high and AA is on SMAA but fps still dips below 60fps and the crazy amount of stutter you can get.

I know Far cry 3 is an older game but I cant believe how much better it runs even with MSAA x8 or 4. I can drive around in that game and it doesnt go below 70fps on everything maxed with MSAAx4.

Are they the same engine? if so why does one run very good and no stutter and one runs pretty bad and stutters alot of the time :/

Specs Evga GTX 780ti Superclocked
I7 4790K 4.5ghz
16GB RAM
XFX 750watt Power Supply.

They both use version 2 of the Dunia Engine. There is a lot of engine modification between the two games though. I think the only way to do a real comparison here would be to test a vanilla copy of Far Cry 3 against a vanilla copy of Far Cry 4. They could have faced similar issues at launch.

I had the same problem where the reflesh rate seemed capped at about 30, it was also stuttering. And wtih a RX 480 8GB this should not quite be the case.
I changed the VSYNC setting to from sparse to normal and now I get 60 fps most of the time.

at 1080p I can run Far Cry 3 at max detail at 8X MSAA, but far cry 4 I had to lower it to 4X MSAA as my GTX 1070 wasn't quite strong enough for 8X MSAA on it, the graphics are better on far cry 4 so I expected that anyway

I really didn't see a hell of a lot of diff playing on a R9 280x aka 7970GHZ both games very smooth and high enough fps.

I picked up a GTX1070 couple months ago but haven't tried out either on it yet.
