Very bad screen tearing.
I have 144hz monitors.
i7 3930k 6 core 4.6ghz cpu
gtx 780 with overclock

With everything maxed I get very bad screen tear (same with low settings)

I have a temporary solution of playing the game at 2715x1527 resolution. (this causes my fps to remain lower and prevents screen tearing)

However, this is still a less than ideal solution. Not sure what the cause of the issue is.
Do others have bad screen tearing and know of a real fix?

Cap your fps to 60.

Disable Vsync in game and force adaptive Vsync under game options in nvidia control panel.

Have similar problem, will try above

um turn on vsync...

and lower framerates dont prevent tearing. in fact its usually more noticeable at lower framerates. at higher framerates there is technically more tearing but the tears happen much faster where at low framerate they are slower and can make more of ripple effect. it varies from game to game of course.

that wont do anything as he will be below his 144 hz refresh rate the whole time so it will be no different than having vsync off.

I did some experimenting. It seems the game works best at 30fps. Anything above this has very bad screen tearing. SO bad you cant move the mouse/camera without the screen becoming a mess.

Sadly....30 fps feels terrible. Being used to 60-144fps in games and having to play at 30 is insane. Turning and moving is a blurry mess in comparison.
Would love ideas on how to make anything above 30fps playable.

My rig is capable of getting 60+ at 1080p. I shouldnt have to increase resolutions and AA to lower my fps and negate this screen tearing.

edit:
I have tried with V-sync on and off. disabled in game and enabled in game. Adaptive etc...
Nothing helps.

Not always, considering that it may also depend on the game and own settings. For instance, I have a 120hz monitor and a CPU/GPU combo (both overclocked) capable of delivering very decent performance, and yet some games require to lock fps (even lower than 120) to avoid tearing. It's more a case-to-case scenario when it comes to such issues.

Since that didn't help try enabling Vsync in game and lowering your screen refresh rate to 60hz under Display/Screen Resolution/Monitor Setting. In a few cases that has helped me getting rid of the annoying tearing.

the OP is asking about THIS game. adaptive vsync will do NOTHING to stop the tearing in THIS game since he will below his refresh rate of 144 hz the whole time.

and locking the framerate does not stop tearing. tearing can happen ANY time that vsync is off.

Hence, the suggestion to decrease monitor refresh rate in control panel and lock FSP. Considering that it happens with other titles, it might as well work in this case. It's still worth a try. In case it does work, he will still be able to enjoy the title at 60fps with no tearing, which is a totally acceptable compromise, even with a 144hz screen.

That is strange, because you should also get screen tearing at 30 fps. With a 144Hz monitor the only fps rates where you do not get screen tearing are: 28.8, 36, 72 and of course 144.

Vsync should actually fix your problem and lock the game at 36 or 72 fps. Maybe your PC is not powerful enough for the 72 fps and the 36 feel like 30 to you. What did you use to meassure your FPS rate?

Found a better fix for the moment.

It seems the game simply does not work fullscreen. I put the game into window borderless mode and I can play at 60fps now instead of 30 without tearing.

With all the same settings, going into fullscreen makes terrible screen tearing. fps even stays the same. So I have no idea what could be causing the tearing.

there is always tearing without vsync so I dont understand why you keep acting confused. of course there is no tearing in borderless windowed mode since that mode automatically uses the same vsync as your desktop.

I am "confused" because with vsyc ENABLED it still tears. One would think and expect that if there is no tearing in borderless...there should also be no tearing in fullscreen. The game is not functioning properly.
This is the only game where tearing has ever been an issue for me. From low settings to ultra setings all get the same results. its not a matter of fps not being able to match refresh rates.

Either post something helpful and add to the discussion or not at all please. Something is not working as it should and I am trying to see if people can think/help find a solution to this issue.

well how about you actually be more clear. you never said a damn thing about having vsync on in your OP.

*sigh* this has been a discussion... my second post states all those things...anyways. I have stated I have tried with it on and off. Both within the game and outside the game.

Fullscreen only works when it plays around 30fps.

Luckily, I have gotten borderless working at 60fps. which so far is my best solution. 30fps I cant stand.
