yes
poorly
min req would run poorly at low settings
Please have a look at other next-gen games, which in fact has LOTS better graphics, features, harder code, etc. Farcry 4 isn't even next-gen, and yet it's struggeling :P.
2) so called "bext gen" consoles might look like weak hardware, but architecture is still different from PC (but not so much as was previous gen) so even with weak hardware it could do very well
Lol, funny, as on my i5 4670 with 970 FC4 stutters a lot (everything on ultra-mega-extra-Nvidia supa-dupa or how they call that preset :D, with HBAO+, PCSS and SMAA), even i can keep constant 70+fps with that settings at 1080, game is on SSD and it still stutters. Z87 chipset freshly built, freshly installed, up to date drivers etc. I know i can lower textures settings to get rid of stuttering in FC4, but there is no reason for it, my rig can handle it if properly optimized and i would like enjoy a beauty of Himalaya environment.
So please, tell me another bedtime story about upgrading my rig, thank you very much.
There are people with better computers than you having trouble with this game. It could be that you're just fine playing with stuttering so you don't even notice it. I can play the game just fine, but the stuttering when loading new areas becomes so distracting when you know what you're looking at. Exploring (actually moving about the game world and discovering new areas) is a cornerstone of the Far Cry experience, and it's not working right. Combat works fine when you stay in one area and don't move, but moving to new areas is a stuttery mess.
To the original poster - yes, this game is not optimized. There is a fundamental difference in hardware for PC's and consoles. Consoles have a 'unified' architecture where the CPU, GPU, and RAM all work together in a specific way, whereas PC's have CPU, RAM, and GPU as separate components which moves information differently.
Since console hardware doesn't change, gamemakers can optimize their game to take advantage of this particular configuration and the game will run exactly the same on those millions of consoles.
For Far Cry 4 the developers apparently didn't even try to change the code to better take advantage of the separate nature of PC components. When PC's of equal computing power to that of consoles attempt the play the game, the code will tell that computer to run the game in a way that puts too much stress on one component or another. In order to overcome the bottleneck one needs a FAR more powerful computer than is necessary to run the game (aka brute-force).
In order to save money, when Ubisoft finished Far Cry 4 they immediately sent everyone working on the game to new projects, then tasked low-paid workers in Kiev to create a settings menu (maybe - we're not sure what Kiev was in charge of) and test the game under multiple configurations. Meanwhile, a very small group of people (maybe even ONE person) back at Ubisoft proper would attempt to fix game-breaking bugs that Kiev came across. This all takes place within weeks - after they finish the game but before the game is released in stores. During that time they fix whatever bugs they can, then when the time is up the game ships as-is, even if the game is still running poorly.
For Far Cry 4 the game that shipped to customers had zero PC-centric bug fixes applied at release. There were two patches that the game needed to enable what Kiev was tasked with fixing/ adding. It's my understanding that so far Ubisoft hasn't even tried to optimize the game for PC - all their efforts went into fixing Assassin's Creed Unity because it needed more work. This is why the AC:U patch fixes 300+ problems and the last FC4 update 'fixed' (not really) only two.
The next patch (1.5, which is coming next week sometime), is the first real optimization patch for the PC version of the game. The game came out October 18th.
wow your talking out your backside. your 750 is not going to be playable at much over low no AA no nothing. You can't even list your hardware in a readable formate. My 2600k@4.2 with 16gb of ram a SSD and a gtx 970 with crush your welfare rig and i still have a bit of stutter. I am running the nvidia preset though something you could never do with what you have.
FC3 wasn't without issues on release either. Patches fixed it.
This. I'm tired of hearing about "optimization". That's something you do for console games. How do you expect devs to optimize for PC when the range of hardware and OS settings available are pretty much unlimited? How can they optimize a PC game for people that don't know how to optimize their own PC?
Well games like Shadow of Mordor, Alien isolation and many indie games are well optimised for PC gaming. Ask those Devs as they obviously have put in the effort to work out how and enact on their competence. Whereas Ubisoft, who have more backing and funding still couldn't work out how.
Yes we all get that people are getting issues, such as like with every AAA game ever released these days. Show me one forum where everyone is not getting any issues what so ever at release.
But because you people get issues we must all be like "oh well i guess this game that is working perfectly for me MUST be broken because a handful of people in the forums are telling me so..."
How about you all climb out of your little bubbles and realise that not everything is so black and white.
Wait for a patch<------ simple. Still hasn't fixed it? Upgrade time.<----- simple.Still hasn't fixed it? Learn how to build your computer properly.<------simple.
Telling us how wrong we are won't change a damn thing.
