I've noticed that while this is the main issue, my game stutters the instant before whooshing indictators sound, npc's blather on randomly, animals vocalise and anything else that makes a new noise. This is why it's such a confusing issue to fix.
What the hell do you mean SLI is asking for trouble? Ive run both SLI and Xfire (currently) and they both work fine.
Have you ever even used either?
Im even forcing Xfire on the game right now and haven't had an issue. I dont understand all these people that have issues using a 2 card setup, I swear some idiots just jump on the bandwagon and say its **s h i t** just because everyone else does....
But then then they would have not had all us beta testers to find these issues for them since they're so incapable of testing the game themselves on various gaming rigs...
SLI and CFX have a slew of issues, and aren't worth the price per performance, and it took me...god knows how many years to figure that out. Instead of wasting my money on SLI, something that support is never guaranteed for, something that often times you require to jump through hoops just to get it working (unless you like microstutter, which you clearly must), I just spend that money on one very powerful card, and get perfectly adequate performance.
When you bought SLI, you knew the risks.
Sounds like it took a while for you to learn :)
I've had one system with crossfired 5870's and this current 780ti SLI. I had NOTHING but problems with cfx and it was a relief to turf them and go single gtx580 and just GAME again, instead of arseing around with cfgs and tweaking.
I researched for quite a while before deciding on an sli system and i came to the conclusion through various sites that the micro stutter was essentially a non issue now. For the most part that was true, but along come companies like this that simply don't support it or even give a toss about it on any new release. I'm either turning it off or trying out profiles for the elusive 'better than single' scalability. Really the only games i've ever found a significant trouble free increase in fps with SLI is Bordlerlands 2 and anything with frostbite.
Currently thinking about going single gtx980. If you have 2 cards there's this underlying need to actually use them and you go nuts tweaking to make sure you haven't wasted your money. You have. The money is wasted when you're tweaking instead of gaming. Hey but if that's your bag, it's certainly big enough.
Your not the only onw. Games saves are ♥♥♥♥. Game crashes at start up 80% of the time. But by all means Ubisoft please fix aim assist first, I'm sure thats more important.
