I'm seriously regretting my purchase of the wingsuit.
The wingsuit is seriously pissing me off now. I get killed by unintenionally activating the wingsuit, and I fly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 2-3 feet and I immediately die. I UNINTENIONALLY activate the wingsuit because obviously I sprint everywhere and every 3 minutes I come across a 4 or 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ foot drop that activates the wingsuit whilst I'm running without my damned permission. First of all to the devs.... please fix this ♥♥♥♥. Also is there a way to unequip the wingsuit? Because I don't see an option in the controls to rebind the wingsuit to another key.

You realize you have to hit shift to activate it right? Just don't hold shift when you jump over a gap or off a ledge.
I fully understand the frustration. I die 80% of the time I use it.

ye, wingsuit and sprint both being on shift key is one of the many annoyances of the keybindings. (looting and changing weapon on same key too.... god i hate it).

But I noticed that you should not hold shift down in order to sprint, just tap it once and you sprint (for a period of time - or with upgrade - for unlimited time). If you get used to that, you can make way easier jumps and don't accidently wingsuit everywhere :)

I can understand it is somewhat a nuisance when traversing across some uneven terrains, but shouldn't you get a prompt of deploying parachute(default key is C?) as well when you're very close to the ground?

While I did not look yet (so forgive if I may be wrong) can't u rebind such a key?

Yea I'm seeing some of the same stuff I disliked about FC3 a little too. Like going to Search someone and having it swapping your equipped weapon for theirs. I mean dam couldn't those two action be two seperate keys. WTF

Is a little frustrating, but some light on it is that you don't need to hold shift to sprint. Once you press shift and are sprinting, you can release it and continue running. as long as you don't release forward. I know it isn't "ideal" but I forget as well and end up wingsuiting into trees 2-3 feet off the ground.

you can indeed not rebind it

like I specified in my post... sure the prompt pops up but human reaction time is slow and I'm complaining about these tiny ass little inclines that take .3 seconds for a wingsuit to reach the ground. I get one shot and I have no time to react.

I instinctively deploy the chute whenever I accidentally deploy the wings, and it's not as hard as it sounds. But then of course we'll have to go through that landing animation every time.

yeah, in some cases there isnt enough time, when it happens to me I am usually right at a tree line running over a hill. Instant tree hit. I notice that when using the wingsuit from higher up, if you try to nose dive ultimately commiting suicide, Ajay automatically uses the chute. I was going to purposely head first off a mountain side into the ground just messing around and behold, he pops the chute :)

Wish mine would activate as easily as everyone elses seems to. I have to jump off a sheer cliff to get the option, whereas in 3 you could jump off a 3 foot slope and glide. I die more often because it WONT activate and I fall to my 6 foot death.

I died about 12 times sprinting off of a 3 foot drop that my five year old son could do. 3 foot belly flop equals death in far cry world! It also activates at the wrong time, say I am sprinting on top of a building and I want to jump off to do a "death from above"...Of course, I don't do the take down. I simply deploy wingsuit...give away my position and set off the alarms!

Hmm. I like the idea of wingsuits in games. Proximity flying is one of the gnarliest things you can do IRL and to be able to experience that from the comfort of my computer chair sounds compelling.

Sounds like it's poorly implemented though, if I'm understanding correctly contact with anything while the wingsuit is deployed is an instant death and it's not based on relative velocity?

That seems incredibly stupid, I don't understand why velocity would play no role in damage taken. It seems to matter in every other circumstance. (hang glider, jumping, falling)

Cuz at this moment gliding has a uniform speed no matter of your altitude or how you initiate the glide. That 'deploy wings' animation is gonna propel you into that particular speed and only a 'deploy parachute' animation will take you off that. Technically that 'reduced damage from falling' upgrade should help.

You can pull a parachute, but the issue is with these small inclines in which people unintenionally open a wingsuit with not enough reaction time to save yourself from a .5 second flight to the ground. The wingsuit is amazing and any other time it's not an issue, but they should allow us to rebind the button to open our wingsuit off of the damn sprint button...

For me it is a little better now that I've inverted the flight controls. For some reason hitting down to 'pull up' feels a lot more intuitive and it seems to respond faster.
