Thanks but what does this even mean? I got a download from Steam. Where's this in-game manual you speak of? Other that the quick pop ups at the beginning mission, I can't see any detailed manual. Thanks.
but seriously, it's in the menu where you do everything (craft, map etc), there should be a help section or something
On the bottom row of icons you'll see "Campain User Manual." Read each one :)
Yes. :) I'm a noob to this game, not life.
I think you're talking about the TACTICS section? Yes, seen that and there's is some useful info. But it assumes you know how to do certain simple things. No where does it provide a screen by screen explaination of the various controls like that "wheel" etc. Maybe you can help me for starts by telling me how do I engage my side arm? Has anyone posted such a thing on line? Thanks.
Hmmm, I think I've seen this in my searches but can't seem to find it based on your instructions. From what I recall, it only talks about the objectives of each campain? Not necessarily the silly basic stuff I seem to lack. You're not referring to the TACTICS menu are you? (see above)
1-4 are for changing your primary weapon. You can change the loadout at any trader (in the Weapons Purchase screen).
The mousewheel changes your throwable (bait, grenade, throwing knife, molotov). Middle click throws the selected item. It works only in direction (ie, regardless of if you scroll up or down you're going to go through the list of items in the same order).
T will throw a stone, useful for distracting enemies. You can use it to pull isolated enemies towards you to quietly take them out, or throw it away from you if an enemy is getting too close for comfort and you want to steer them away from you.
9 and 0 are for C4 and Mines respectively. C4 requires you to place it (right click) then detonate (left click while it is still selected). Mines just require you to drop them and you're good.
--- You can also select weapons by holding down a number key to pull up the weapon wheel, but honestly it's easier to just memorize which weapon goes with which key. An example of my setup is: 1 is Bow, 2 is Grenade Launcher, 3 is silenced sniper rifle and 4 is silenced assault rifle.
Collecting green plants will let you auto-craft healing syringes (2 plants per syringe). There is an initial skill you can unlock that lets you gather two plants from each... plant, which means you get a health syringe automatically every time you harvest a green plant.
There are four other types of Syringes, each one has its own skill that you need to unlock before you can craft and then use them (one is for taking reduced damage, one is for increasing your oxygen amount when underwater or at high altitudes, one is for dealing increased damage while also making you take extra damage, and one lets you see wildlife and enemies in the area automatically). Hold TAB to pull up the Syringe wheel for these. The other syringes are in the Elephant tree.
Finally, vehicles can take damage. Some have indicators when they are about to explode. You can get out and repair them by bringing up the repair torch (default key is Y).
------------------------------
Green bars represent your health. You start with two, but can increase them by unlocking skills in the Elephant tree. If you take partial damage to a bar, it will automatically regenerate. You can hold H to heal, as well (syringes are quicker, but if you don't have any you can manually heal; not recommended to manually heal in the middle of combat since it takes too long usually).
Body armor is represented as a thin white bar above the green health bars.
------------------------------
Values at the top of the screen in the Journal view represent a couple things. I don't remember off the top of my head, but I do know one is the current amount of skill points you have to use for unlocking skills and one is the amount of Rupees you have in your wallet. I think Karma might also be represented there.
If you have other questions please feel free to ask.
Asasin, thank you very much for taking the time to provide such a great response. Very helpful. I'm starting to feel more comfortable in this game.... really liking it. Best I've tried since Skyrim.
Yeah - you're right, when you're in-game it's the Tactics screen. Those little tutorials tell you everything you need to know. I just went through the Tactics tutorials and they answer every question you asked in the OP.
Most of the 'tactics' are not shown until you 'unlock' them. You'll know you've unlocked them when they pop up in your face while you're playing. Getting good at the game means knowing how to use all the options at your disposal, and when to use them! This is learned over time, as you play.
**YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSE TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THE GAME WHEN YOU START OUT.** Missions you take will introduce you to new concepts. Stick around one area until you've done those missions - don't skip to the other side of the map and expect to kick butt and take names. It's open-world but you'll still need to progress a bit before heading to the other side of the map.
A few things to keep in mind:
Be sure to try out each gun and see which one fits your play style the best.
If you're getting owned in firefights with a certain gun, either you're not using it correctly or you should be using a bigger/ better gun.
Keep a silenced weapon on you at all times, like a silenced pistol or bow.
When buying equipment always make sure your armor is at 100%.
Toss grenades and molotovs liberally - even if it doesn't kill them they will keep the enemies running for cover and give you time to think of your next move/ or to heal - you'll have plenty of money to buy more.
Loot every container and body and look around for small piles of cash and ammo that don't show up on the map.
Have patience to plan out your attack:
Tag your enemies with the camera [Z] - make sure you tag everyone in the area before beginning your assault.
Sneak as often as possible to avoid surprise run-ins with baddies and wild life - getting the drop on enemies and planning your attack will give you a massive advantage.
Get good at throwing rocks to lure enemies to your hiding spot, then take them out with a takedown - clearing out camps without being seen is one of the most satisfying things you can do in the game!
Them's fight'n words.
thanks anyways!
It's how many items you have in your inventory (including crafting materials and ingredients).
