Color Settings Suggestions?
Hi, I have been messing around with the color settings and am having some difficulty. I can't seem to find a setup that looks appealing (in the sample picture at least). Just wondering if anyone is a pro at this kind of thing and can recommend what to set each value to?

This is how I have it at the moment:
Brightness: -1 (from default value)
Contrast:+2
Gamma:+2

I usually have my monitor at about 50-60 brightness and contrast always at 40.

Any advice for any adjustments I should make to either the color settings in-game or my monitor would be greatly appreciated! I really want to make sure that the game is looking the way it was intended! Also, I know this is probably based on personal preference but I am the kind of person who likes to have a general idea of what it should be and then work from there.

Thanks in advance for the help!

its a rough question what you're asking for if your monitor isn't hardware calibrated to similar settings as another thats hardware calibrated. for instance if both monitors are hardware calibrated for pre press work... yea then we can discuss settings.

but ... i mean... do the color adjustments at night would be a suggestion from me... when you look up in the sky do you see th moon in the sky? going from there... how do you want your near full moon light to look... the game easily allows one to make that lighting situation appear almost as daylight without the yellow color of the sun. meaning everyting is just super lit up by the moon light and lots of night visibility... or do you want a slightly more realistic appearance with that lighting situation...

i mean light like that at night there's lots of visibility but it's not exactly like daylight and only gets better when everything is covered in snow.

What do you mean by hardware calibrated? Is that the same as if I did a factory reset? Also, if I adjusted the settings to look this way at night, would it be blinding during the day?

One more question, I read an article a while back about the color settings in FC3 and someone mentioned that it's best if the brightness is lower than the gamma. Any thoughts on this? Thanks for the reply!

hardware calibration means you have actual hardware calibrating your monitor... a color spectrometer. comes with a sensor that you put in front of your monitor and gets it's color response from software that came with. will tell you what color space your monitor is in currently. color space/gamut. Adobe RGB, sRGB, Wide Color... will set it to specific gamma and color settings per leaving the monitor in it's default state out of box. and you can adjust from there as the calibration happens.

vs software calibration... what comes with win7/8 or on mac computers within the OS and done by a person's eye, which you will get different results depending on who is calibrating. not reliable

would it be blinding during the day? it wasn't for me... you'll have to test and find out for yourself. again as you and i dont have the same hardware calibration on our monitors i can't say with out a doubt.

i currently have my brightness lower then my gamma as you have mentioned and currently don't have a veiling glare/glow look to my game.

on a side note.. NO not a factory reset.

I didn't even know such a thing existed! How much are they usually? Also, if you wouldn't mind sharing how many "ticks" you have each value at just so I can try it out and see if I like it. I believe there are 10 ticks for each?

For a nite that looks like day:
Brightness: 0
Contrast: 6
Gamma: 10

Current settings:
Brightness: 0
Contrast: 6
Gamma: 6

Above settings are dependent on the 'Shadows' setting under 'Quality settings' to something other then 'Low'.

The 'Low' setting on 'Shadows' completely changes the way the game looks from all the other 'Shadows' settings.

Good to know about the shadows, I'll definitely give it a try, thanks!

Adding SweetFX to FC4 is a much better idea if you don't like the default look, or if you feel like the colors are off :) In-game settings are very basic and seem sort of destructive. I uploaded comparison screenshots for you. One with SweetFX turned on and one with it turned off. Just go on my profile and check the screenshots.

Sorry Sarkarlos for not saying thank you, thank you for your input and I agree the sweetFX looks much better!

Turn up digital vibrance in the Nvidia Control Panel (not sure if AMD cards have this) it makes a huge difference.

I can only get Sweet FX to work on DX9 titles, how did you get it working on Far Cry 4? its DX11.....

Thanks! How high do you suggest? It was at +50% for me by default. Also, not sure if you know about this, but it says Reduces Eyestrain, do you know if that means turning it up reduces eyestrain or turning it down?
