ERROR: The Far Cry 4 service is not available. Please try again later.

i bought this game 2 days after release and i still haven't been able to play it.

i open the game from steam, uplay and far cry automatically start. i see the dev screens, nvidia, an elephant and a tiger splash, then the far cry 4 screen with the text, "press any button". when i push anything, an error comes up that says, "the far cry 4 service is not available. please try again later." i push enter and the game just sits there doing nothing. i've tried to get on at least a dozen times since i bought the game, but i haven't been able to get past this error. please help!

I have the exact same issue. I have been on the phone daily with Ubisoft trying to get this resolved since Tuesday when the game came out.. The ticket has been escalated and the last thing they told me today was that they are aware of this issue and that I will just have to be patient until the new patch is released. This is all well and good but they already have my money and they do not seem inclined to offer a refund.

I get the same message after getting to the main menu, loading the game, and seeing the in-game world for a split second. The worst part is that I've been playing fine for the past 3 days!

The carzy thing is that I am having the same issue even starting in offline mode. :(

On Friday was told by Ubisoft tech support that I needed to wait until the patch hit (1.04) and that would fix issue. Steam finally updated game this morning, still no resolution. Called tech support back, ran through all the same steps including verifying game cache and still not working. Was now told that they do not have a solution to the issue and that it would have to be sent to some other tech support of a higher tier. Check back on Wednesay is the latest update they have for me. When I asked for a refund and we would part ways I was told that was not a option. At this point its starting to feel like robbery, as they already have my money.

Since Monday I've been downloading the game on two occasions when the game is now about to download , tells me that there is a mistake and restarts the download .

Click on the windows key.

Write cmd.exe , right click it and run it in administrator mode.

Write this in the cmd.exe:
netsh winsock reset

After you have done that restart your computer and enjoy the game!
