Grapple glitch. Can't climb the rope.

I'm about 20% through the campaign and suddenly I can't ascend or descend the rope anymore. I can swing around and detach but that's it. Tried reloading, tried rebinding the keys, neither fixed the problem. Any ideas?

I think climbing can break if you rebind keys. Try setting them back to default if you did rebind them.

Done that and it didn't work. I've sussed it though. For some reason ascend and descend have been remapped to LMB/RMB. Strange. At least I can play again though :)

LMB and RMB are the defaults.

Ok cool. I was using MB4 and MB5 before.

Sadly nothing i do can get it to work. the only way i can use the grapple right now is to use the xbox controller and the mouse controls dont work.

If you use the Default settings with "keyboard and mouse" then the left mouse button will be used to climb and the right mouse button for going down. The C button will detach from the rope. The E button is used for attaching the grappling hook. So if you have changed your key binding it will not work, must use Default settings.

i have everything on default and it does no good. still doesn't work.

i figured it out turns out that when you reset default settings it only works for the screen your on. i had to open up the customize controls section then hit default settings for it to reset the controls. i also did this for the gamepad section to make sure and i can now use the grapple without switching to my xbox controller.

hey, can someone tell me how to solved this problem, i have some problem with this. and change my setting to default cannot change anything, i still can ascend or descend the rope

Now I have the same issue. it worked yesterday, no longer works today. I'd heard how buggy this game was so I waited to buy it, thinking they'd patch the problems. Guess I should have known better since FC3 still had bugs a year after it's release that hadn't been patched. Actually, it's even more interesting. I just found out now that if I hook at the top of a grappling point, it tells me X to climb (but of course I'm already at the top) so I can't climb. If I hook from the bottom, to ascend, I get no notification of key bindings, and X doesnt work. Screw it, I'm done with this POS. it looks like not only didn't the duhvelopers fix the issues users were complaining about in FC3, but they added more complexity, and since theyre obviously incompetent, more bugs.

Hey I don't know if you're still having this problem, but I talked to Ubisoft support they had be delete a file named "GamerProfile.xml." It's located in Computer>Libraries>My Games> Far Cry 4>6fa2c96b-31ab-446b-960d-f14cbb3a9ae8. It fixed it for me.

If this is the same problem relating to the below update addition, it should be fixed now hopefully with the latest update
