try to find a solution on the internet for forcing audio to your headphones or shut down your laptops speakers in device manager.
I'm using a wireless usb headset, when I plug in the usb it forces everything to go to the headphones, ask a friend if he has a usb headphonemaybe and try that.
Well im not sure if this will work for you but what i did was restart my computer and then i changed the headphones from the headphones i was using to the simple ipod headphones. I'm not sure if that will work for you but you can try it out.
it is a game related issue. this is the only game that has done this for me.
headphones worked for 5 minutes then defaulted to speakers.
other people have this issue as well.
make sure you set your headphones up in windows sound settings under play back devices
the game may work best if you put the head phones in stereo mode .. not 7.1 as the game only supports up to 5.1 sound
also check the bit rate in your speaker settings

as well as check all the settings for any added software your had phones require .. some head sets, yes may need to select a game or application and enable it ..other wise it is on the MUTE list
