GTX 970 optimal settings
What settings am I supposed to use with a GTX 970 (with an i7 2600 3,4ghz)?
It seems to run like sh** no matter what.
Or should I just wait for a performance patch that might or might not come?

Reported, have a nice day :)
Reported for what? Reporting others without a valid reason only gets you in trouble.
I gave you a possible solution, since the game uses quite a bit of the CPU.
You can't take being called an idiot?
It is known that this game has a problem addressing cpu usage.
It seems to be abusing core 3 and not using the others at all.
An i7 2600 3,4 ghz with a gtx 970 should not require overclocking to play a game that sincerely doesn't look incredible.
I can run shadow of mordor at maximum settings with the hd texture pack at 70+fps, crysis 3 at max settings at 50+ fps.
This game is not at that level of graphic fidelity to justify such a huge requirement in performance.
Also, you called me an idiot for "not buying the K version" and that's definitely worth a report.

It has nothing to do with looking incredible, the game renders a huge amount of terrain, objects and AI. I agree that it's not perfectly optimized but that's the main reason.
I have a 4930k at 4.7GHz, running with hyper threading off, so i just have my 6 physical cores, it's using at least 2-3 of them to the fullest extend and others are slightly lower.

Well good for you, I insist on the fact that the hardware I have should be able to run the game just fine, also, the purpose of this discussion was to share settings that might help, not suggest overclocking or hardware alternatives. That will most likely not solve the problem (or at least not improve the framerate significantly) and make my cpu run not perfectly stable and at higher temperatures, giving it a lower life span, which I don't want.

I'm running it with everything on ultra on my GTX 970. Only things I turned off are motion blur (looks awful), nvidia godrays (volumetric fog si much more realistic), SMAA (best quality / performance AA), and textures on medium, because anything higher than medium textures causes stuttering. It helped all my friend to fix their stuttering problems, so try it out yourself if you also have stuttering in your game (pretty much everyone has). On these settings I'm getting silky 60 FPS. Only places where framerate drops to 45-50 are bigger villages, like the one at the beginning of the game.

I seem to get the ideal performance with these settings and it looks decent.
I expected better but I guess we will have to wait for some patches to see some improvements in the future.
Thanks a lot!

I see you're showing off more of your ignorance in regards to PC hardware.
A 30% increase in clock speed is quite significant in terms of in game performance.
If you don't abuse the voltage and have good cooling, the lifespan will not be significantly degraded. Do you plan to use that old CPU for 5 years or more?

Your Turbo clock is 3.8ghz. It will run this game no problem. Maybe you have slow RAM or a dirty OS with tons of driver issues.
I do have a dirty OS :)
I might consider formatting actually as it's almost full.

Have you checked this?

http://www.techspot.com/review/917-far-cry-4-benchmarks/page3.html

GTX 970 Ultra settings 1920x1200 and an average of 71FPS. And i think that's a default clocks card. Seems pretty good for me.

Check your PC.

Ok, I'm only a couple hours into the game but mine seems to run pretty well with a gtx970. Latest Nvidia driver released yesterday or the day before+reccomended optimal settings by Nvidia. It actually never falls under 55-60FPS in the most demanding spots, so I'm considering upping a setting or two. I5 2500K, 16gb ram

I use the Ultra settings with soft shadows with my 970. No vsync, no triple buffering. Looks and plays amazingly. I think it's the Geforce Experience optimal settings.

sorry but im going to rant a bit :

it's no secret that Ubisoft CEO's doen't like PC gaming. Their first top piriority is Playstation 4 XboxOne, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Apple iOS, nintendo Wii and lastly the PC gamemarket.
With Ubiplay they are trying to make the PC get closer to look like a console platform.

Far Cry 3 on the PC was ( and still is ) a big stutter party with framedrops , what did you expect from part 4 ? Better performance ? Better experience ? Better implementation and utilization of todays high end PC hardware ? Of course not !

expect The Division , Far Cry 5, Assassins Creed and all those big budget AAA+ games with extensive ads. spambanners and in Micheal Bay-ish youtube advervideo's, the same technical perfomance and experience as you have now. NOT AS PROMISED. Oh and dont forget all the Season Passes they sell you now.. a couple of years ago DLC's were almost free but now they spamm you to buy a season pass.. for 1 a 2 hours extra gameplay.. or 3 NEW MAPS!! you hardly going to play on because of technical prroblems.

Sadly you need to turn to Indie developers who put the PC gaming passion on the first place to expect something great ( Star Citizen ) ..

rant off ... Pffffffff sorry needed that out of my chest ... :P

I have the Asus Strix 970 and I run everything on Ultra, except for motion blur, which is useless eye candy IMO. I'm also running it on a i7-950, first gen. Runs mostly above 60pfs.
Toni's Bizzare Adventure 2014 年 11 月 21 日 上午 11:58
If you can live with 45-60 fps try activating your DSR in the nvidia driver and set the resolution ingame to 1440p and SMAA it looks better especially details on objects like weapons etc.
