Far Cry 4 - Application Error On Launch
Afternoon,

Upon starting Far Cry 4 after hours of throwing fists with the Uplay Servers my game finally reaches completion in downloading. Although i encounter a problem on launching said game.

After 3 or 4 seconds I am presented with a message stating.

"FarCry4.exe - Application Error"

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005) Click Ok to close the application"

I attempted to some digging on the internet but all attempts remained fruitless.

Has anyone encountered this problem and found a solution? Or am I missing something?

Any help would be mostly appreciated. Thanks!

Uninstall and reinstall it,uplay download servers might have screwed up during your download!

Reinstalling didn't work for me, i'm currently trying to move the game to my C drive to see if that works.
EDIT: nope, same error.

Most likely will have to wait for a patch *sigh*

There are many many threads now on this forum now about people not being able to start the game. Some are getting a Farcry4 window thats just black and listed as not responding under task manager, others get in but crashes. There seems to be tons of problems.
I for one have reinstalled the game 2 times without any luck, and changed Nvidia driver 4 times ( downgraded) also without any luck. There are also suggestions involving disconnecting all USB gaming devices and hubs to get it to work.

<<At the starting page for Farcry 4 at this forum there is a Pinned post where you can find all contack info to Ubisoft. I suggest that you place a ticket there as asap so that Ubisoft can get some idea of how big this problem really is.>>

Paying quite a bit of money, even in advance, just to get a game that doesnt even starts not ok. Especially when they do not respond or even post that they are aware of the issues.

This is just not good enough

I see a lot of people saying its USB issue but I disagree. I did not remove any of my USB devices. I think its a problem with the installer itself. What I did was a disk check on the drive with the game on it and it found errors. I also did a registry clean and defrag and it also found errors. Once the errors got repaired the game started without a hit in fullscreen. Haven't had an issue since. I use iolo System Mechanic Pro and I think they have a free trial version that lets you use those tools. Try something to that effect and let me know if it works. Thanks and good luck. Also verify integrity of gamr files

Try restarting UPlay a few times to see if it will get a .NET update for Far Cry 4. Someone on the Ubisoft forums said this works, I can't test it atm.
vrgood Nov 18, 2014 @ 5:29pm
I don't think it's a .net issue.

I have now unplugged my Corsair Link internal USB connector. And totally removed my G13 keyboard and I can now start the game. I have removed my G13 earlier without any luck, so this might be the internal connectors fault. I find this quite hopeless, but- it works- fianlly.
My corsair link commander is obiousely a USB gaming device....

got the .NET update and the game worked! the 0x0000005 error is caused by ntdll.dll, which is a component of microsoft's .NET. Just keep restarting Uplay until the installer for Far Cry 4 installs 5 updates instead of 3
