Your main issue is the Alienware X51. It's a small space and your just hearing the fans kicking up. The gpu is prob the main culprit if it's a blower style, i can't see it being any other kind and they get rather loud.
you have an airflow problem somewhere or a fan failure somewhere, which could be causing the GPU fan to ramp up in speed.
In a laptop?
I thought the x51 was a console size desktop?
its probably a fan failing from dust is why its heating up

yea the X51 a mini desktop, with no fans anywhere on it, no wonder its loud and overheating
Yea i just looked it up. I did come across some reviews though that mentioned it was on the loud side while gaming. If it ain't dusted up, just have to tollerate it like having a noisy desktop. 72C is well within the safe range.
Ah, like a micro ATX. I get ya. So it's near on the equivalent of laptop sized...
I.e similar overheating issues.
I wouldn't call it overheating, but I didn't realize the only fans was on the heatsinks.....yea, it's going to be loud in that case. As long as the temps are <90C he's cool, though typically the 750ti's run in the 50's, this isn't a typical case we're talking about.
EDIT: Even if it did have like a couple 60mm fans on it, think of how annoying those would be....like a bee hive when they start to spin up!
yea but i still dunno why people buy such proprietary systems they have to be a pain in the *ss to upgrade ..i guess they see alienware and think its the best .... and that used to be true many years ago ..before dell got their grubby fingers on the brand
Yea 72C is safe range sure (for older cards) but 750 TI;s ussually run between 55 - 60c, they are Maxwell chipset and designed to run almost cold.
It would makea killer lan box, but yea....I seen some micro atx cases i've liked, thought about gettin one to put my lan rig in cus it's case atm also has very poor airflow.

Off of the nvidya site for the 750ti:
Maximum Temperature 95 C
yea they're designed for low power, but they can still take the heat. OP's fine, just a loud pc, he may try to put it away from his desk some, or maybe on the other side of a partition or something depending on how his gaming station is setup to minimize the noise levels.
One of many reviews that points out the noise.
