I noticed that multiple times when their game broke people came to this forum looking for help, and you have helped people run their game (or just pointed out their computer was not up to reqs).

I feel like maybe its a longshot, but after getting absolutely no help from Ubisoft with two tickets ( both times they told me to reinstall my drivers, saying the were "Out of Date" for graphics and directx, and both times they were not) I figured why not just ask you.

So here is the problem: When patch 1.5 came in my game went from working to suddenly not working. I literally had 0 problems before that. I hoped 1.6 would correct this, but it didn't. The main issue is I can play the game, but only in offline mode. If I do not start UPlay up in offline mode, when I run Far Cry 4 it gets to the screen with "Press Any Key to Continue", I get to the menu (sometimes) or it just straight crashes to the desktop. No error message, no "Far Cry 4 has stopped working", nothing. Just *BOOM* desktop.

I have seen other people with this problem come to the forum, and found some suggestions on other sites online, but usually its just "Play it offline and it will work". Well guess what, Ubisoft, I don't want to do that... I want to play the multiplayer and get new maps, etc. In fact, I enjoyed it before when I could do that, and then they had to go and "patch it".

If you can help me, man... well that would be awesome. If not, thats okay too, obviously.

did you try useing steam to verify your game files yet ?

go to your Steam games library

right clik on far cry 4

select properties

select local files

select verify Integrity of game cache

it takes a few min to do but its faster the redownloading your entire game , if its only a few files that were corrupt or installed incorrectly .... this in many cases will fix your problems getting the game to start

yeah, I have tried that multiple times.

I also tried removing the farcry64.dll is it forced it to redownload as it was a fix for a different problem but this doesn't fix it either.

also i have seen some posts about others having issiues with the latest Nvidia drivers so you could try going back to an earlier driver ..as i saw on the ubi forums it sometimes fixed it

also your .net framework seems out of date as on my windows 8.1 laptop i'm pretty sure it updated to version 4.52 a while back via windows update

i'll go check that so dont mess with that yet ..i dont game on that thing .. well not far cry 4 anyway ..it would kill my laptop ...

also disable any extra programs you have running in the backround you do not need to play the game

ok checked my win 8 laptop its the same version of .net framework 3.5 ? why on my win 7 desktop i have version 4.52 from MS update i dunno as my 8.1 laptop jst told me it needs to update again with 3.5 ???

what are your vid settings .. try running the game fullscreen rather then windowed as well or if its in full screen try windowed i dont have an Nvidia GPU so i dunno whats best for those

as i belive you should be able to edit the gamer profile .xml to set those values to edit it open with notepad

okay, will try those things. I am even just going to flat uninstall mcaffee. I have tried to back date the driver to the previous two just in case, and one of them was even out before Far Cry 4- it didnt work :/

and i am not sure but you may be able to delete that file re run the file verification and see if it re installs a default file when you do another file verification so dont take my word on that .. it may screw you up ill have to reinstall FC4 to my laptop tomorrow to see ..as if i screw up that install its not a big deal

but i would try to edit it rather then delete at this point as i dont want to tell you to do the wrong thing and totally goof up your install

Removing McAffee didn't affect it. Still crashes.

Tried to download .net 4.5, got it, when I tried to install it, it said I already had that version (??) even though it states above 3.5

i dont get that it worked in 1.4 but not 1.6 tho if you did the file verify it should work ...dunno man as i had no problems other then the MEM leak in 1.5 with win 7
