Trick for racing missions

Some of the Kyrati racing missions are a little tough to get gold on. The one at Rochan brick storage was particularly difficult, I would always come in around 1-2 seconds late. I thought of a way to give yourself a small head start though: before you enter the vehicle crouch down by the front tires and release the brakes, then get another vehicle and push it forward to approximately where the first ring will be.
It's not a HUGE advantage but it definitely gave me the extra second I needed for gold. Also remember that turning slows you down, especially if your using a keyboard so try to drive in straight lines between each ring.

Haha, I am curious to know how they tested this track and got that times for Gold. I see also others are particularly difficult and, as you mention, will always get 1-2 seconds bellow.
I wonder if the times were not just arbitrarily reduced to make the Gold win almost unreachable....

Controller's analog stick can be used to steer gently with minimal speed impact that's why. The arrows on both controller and keyboard when pressed once is like steering full lock and the vehicle slows down. Tapping directional keys quickly for ballance will help but not as good compared with a steering wheel/analog stick.

I like the steering in Borderlands games, just by using the mouse movements, it gives a smoother feeling while driving.

Just wanted to thank you for the trick, with it and gamepad I was able to finish the - you know which - race on gold after one try that involved head-on collision with a rock.

Ubi screwed controls for this game on pc. First I have to mod game's files (literally unpacking almost 2GB of files to change few numbers) to disable aim smoothing and now I have to use gamepad in racing missions... I am confused how they did it, when it's just a mod of FC3.

Jmech, thank you SO much for that tip, I didn't realize that was a thing. I'd tried this race ~20 times and kept getting 1:30.03 as my time. That 1/3 of a second really made a difference. You saved me from punching through my monitor.

I ran this race near perfect on M&K a few times and kept getting ~1:32. When I ran it with a xbox controller I got 1:24 first time. There is definitely some issue with keyboard turns.

Adding more towards this trick, after unlocking the car breaks, there's another small car where you can use to push the main car until right behind the checkpoint(Barrel on the left of the track as reference).
