Can't download Far Cry 4

Repeatedly says can't download because your files are corrupt and restarts. I can't download this game. What do I do or how do I get a refund?

What OS are you using?

Also if you have just purchased it, restarting steam can help with download issues

That didn't take long. "An error occured while updating Far Cry 4 (connection time out)". I've gotten that message several times before too. I'm not paid to troubleshoot Steam's game for them. In the time that takes I could make enough money to buy 3 more games and I'd rather do that than fix it.

How do I get a refund?

32/64 bit windows 7?

Also try changing your download server in the steam settings. Apparently it has worked for people getting the same error with different games.

I've done that. 64 bit.

Steam won't let you write a review unless you've played for at least 5 minutes. So all the reviews about bugs aren't the half of it as it excludes everyone who can't run the game at all. Which happens with many games out there, not only those as buggy as this one. Well played Steam, you get to filter out false reviews and make it look like you have legitimate reviews.

You should not trust any Steam game to work now because if it doesn't work the review site won't let you write about it.

ok if your steam is not downloading the file have you tried to update Steam

or go in your settings and choose a different Steam file server

It's a brand new Steam installation and already tried a different Server.

Time it takes to earn enough money to buy another game already exceeded. Halting all attempts to fix.

Live and learn folks. Don't let Steam steal your money in exchange for a broken game. Also they prevent posting about broken games from the reviews on their website, so don't trust them either. Know any more reliable developers out there? I need something else to play.

Yea I found that too. I was just about to mention that to others in the warning about getting your money stolen for broken game with no reasonable recourse. In rare cases they do give a refund with a huge fight which goes back to the time worth far more than game issue.

So anybody know any more reliable game developers?

the game is not broken .. it runs fine for me ..has been since release

if the game was broken there would not be over 3000 people on steam playing it right now .. and there are .. i would tend to think if the game were busted this forum would be full

That's nice for you. And tons of people who drive a Pinto have not had it burst into flames. For many others FC4 is broken and the time to fix exceeds the value of the game. Steam won't let them post a review nor get a refund.

I only took a chance because a friend had it. Money gone. Moving on. I've played many computer games before, most do work, and I'm not stupid enough to lose hundreds of dollars of work wasting time on a bad one. Maybe they'll fix it for more users 3 months from now and then I can play.

Blizzard used to be pretty reliable until they switched to a borked file compression system and never bothered to totally fix it or abandon it. Other than that occasional PITA the games still seem to work. I may go with them if I don't hear any better options.
