Far Cry 4 won't start [SOLVED]

Hello,

I've had some serious issues with Far Cry 4 and other Ubisoft games lately. Opening and even trying to uninstall Uplay completely froze my computer and the only thing I could do was restart my computer the hard way. Yesterday I refreshed my Windows 8.1 and reinstalled Far Cry 4 and Uplay. The game worked yesterday, I played for about an hour and went to sleep.

Today I came back and tried to open the game again but it doesn't work. Uplay opens up this time, but the game won't start. Steam won't start Uplay or the game, if I try to open Uplay manually and try to start the game there - nothing will happen.

What I've tried to do about this new problem that I have:

I installed Visual C++ Redistributable Packages and reinstalled DirectX 11.

I reinstalled Far Cry 4 again.

After these didn't work, I reinstalled steam - didn't work. I've also reinstalled Uplay a few times.

Nothing helps and I'm getting so tired of trying to get this game running...


Does anybody know how to repair this problem? :(



The problem is solved, running steam as an administator helps...

please do the following

up top in steam look for the help section

clik on that

then clik system information

let that load , only take a few seconds

once that loads with your system information

right clik on that

select all

then right clik agian select copy

then when you post back

right clik and select paste on your reply

also have you verified your game files in case something got corrupted

when doing so set Steam to run as Administrator for best results

I also verified the Far Cry 4 game files - nothing wrong there.

I run Steam as administaror and bam, it works now.

I can't believe I didn't try this before reinstalling the game and all those other things I did. -.-

what worked for me
1 set steam to run as admin
2 disable all the uplay interface and overlay.
3 setting the farcry4 exe to run in windows 7 compatability mode.

after it started working it tried running the farcry 4 with out win7 compatability mode and it worked as well?? guessing is just a conflict on start up with the initial settings or something

please do the following if your posting about an issiue with a game crashing or not starting,
post your FULL Steam System info .. this helps ... as no one can say what your problem may be until we know all of whats involved.. on YOUR system , we would only be guessing ....Ok ? thanks !

now look up top in steam look for where it says Help (right above the word LIBRARY)

clik on that (it will open a drop down menu)

then clik system information

*note if you have a dual core CPU there is nothing i can tell you to do that will help ....you must meet the Far Cry 4 Minimum System Requirements ..and these will include yes a QUAD CORE CPU as well as a fully functional Direct X 11 video card that supports shader model 5.0 and exceeds either a Nvidia GTX 460 or an AMD 5850 in pixel and vertex shader count as well as a 64 bit operating system *Intel HD Video Chipsets are not supported*

they have a bug in Nvidia shadoe play that will cause the game to fail to launch

see the troubleshooting tips section Pinned to the top of the forum

either disable Nvidia shadow play or use older drivers , the problem began in Nvidia driver version 361.75 and is also in 361.91

the problem has been going on for a month now ....

ALSO very Important if your running WINDOWS 10 or doing a file Verify in win 7 or 8

Launch both Steam and Uplay as RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

this games engine was created years before windows 10 shipped and that change may needed to allow the game to write any save files and or configuration files , windows 10 may handle file security \ permissions in a different way then previous operating systems did.

you can also just use DDU to remove your current driver and reinstall it as a custom install and not install geforce Experience

then you wont have the Nvidia Shadow play bug ..since it wil not be installed

again Nvidia is aware of the problem and has stated it will not be corrected until the next Major Driver Branch .. yes nvidia busted the game in the drivers before , the Nvidia gameworks features will cause the game to crash too , that problem has been going on for over a year . so don't use the Nvidia gameworks in game settings
