Stealth in this game too hard?
Honestly, the stealth in this game is so different from 3.
I was taking an outpost, and I performed a takedown on an enemy in a secluded area. I was not detected.
But somehow everyone heard me, and the alarm was rang within two seconds. (Not joking here, alarms are literally set off the second I get detected)
Also, the alarms are also rang even if you aren't detected! Like if someone sees a dead body, everyone is alerted and reinforcements are called.
Also, enemies can see me while I'm crouched, on top of a hill, at least ~75m away from them.
Anyone agree, or have some tips?

That's not how 4 is playing for me... Yeah, it seems less forgiving than 3, but it's not nearly as polarized (for me) as you're stating.

For instance, if I truly use a silent weapon (note 'silent' and not 'silenced', or as FC4 has them: 'suppressed' is a more accurate term for them) like the bow or auto-crossbow, then unless someone sees them go down, then it's almost always counted as a silent, non-alarm-triggering kill. Sometimes, if I shoot them with one of those, however, and someone is really close by them, then it's a slight chance that they will trigger the alarm, but they always have to run to the alarm box. Also, when the AI goes on alert and they perceive an active threat, they will shout out to someone that is not right next to them and that person might be near an alarm box and trigger the alarm...

Now, back to the suppressed weapons. Suppressed weapons in the game are about 90% silenced, give or take a few percentage points. Meaning, shooting one might alert anyone close by to your location, and the alert meter will fill up rapidly and I had better duck out of sight quickly or they will spot me and go on alert, set off the alarm, trigger a Mission Failed, etc...

Knife takedowns are always silent for me. Unless I'm spotted, nobody makes a peep. Unless I'm seen of course, or I don't hide the body. Then, the AIs will go through the searching phase when they find a body and start searching for me. But they never go "on alert", unless they see me after that. I can kill someone, hide, then wait for them to settle back down after finding one, then repeat the process ad infinitum.

Most of the time, I can lob grenades, bait, molotovs, and kill as many as I want, but the AIs search around for a while until they give up, then they go back on patrol. Every now and then, like 5 or 10% of the time, they will go on automatic alert and come after me and most of the time they will trigger the alarm for reinforcements. But, as long as I stay completely hidden, and the alert bar never fills up, then I can keep harassing the crap outta them until they're all dead. It's just that each time I try to repeat the process they get touchier and touchier until it's almost an automatic "spot you and set off the alarms response" after just a couple of those, unless I wait a really long time. But, if I keep doing loud stuff, then they go on alert very quickly and it's over after that.

If I'm crouched in the distance on a hill, then if I use a completely silent weapon like the recurve bow, then I can pick them off as long as I don't miss. But if I screw up and hit near one, then that AI will get very skittish and will quickly spot me if I keep shooting, even if I stay hidden in some brush and stay crouched. Basically, if I keep doing stupid stuff, the AI will spot me and set off the alarms and swarm to my position. I think the game plays pretty accurately, because as long as they don't see the actual threat (me), then they just take it as random Kyrati deadliness, I suppose, and they assume it's rabid giraffes or a crazed gerbil that's taken someone down.

I think your game files need reverifying if it plays any different. This has been the way the game has played for me regardless of difficulty.

I'd say your takedown wasn't as good as you thought. The guy apparently was able to yell before you killed him. It works exactly like 3 for me.

You think it's exactly like FC3? They seem a little different to me. In FC3, I could chain one after another after another, and hardly took any damage. Now, I'm lucky to get 3 enemies before my health falls to nothing. Seemed way easier in FC3 to me. It has been a long time since I've played that one, but 3 seemed a bit easier to me.

I agree in the sense that it is more difficult, but you cant even compare it to FC3 because that was waaay to easy. Also it was meant to be a challenge.

I'm not saying I am right, you are wrong. But to me it seems exactly the same. I don't find takedowns to be a challenge, except for trying to get the guy out of line of sight of others when they won't move for a stone throw.

I had an incident where I used a throwing knife to take out a dog. I was on the 2nd floor. The dog was out of sight of anyone, yet 3 people converged on my position after the dog was discovered by a wandering guard. luckily I was on the 2nd floor and they were running around below trying to find me.

Sounds about right to me; exactly how it works in my game too.

yup, if a patrol spots a kill of yours they shout and people come looking. As long as they don't see you they go back to acting like nothing happened after a minute or two of searching.

It sucks you can't move a dog's body like you can with people.

Seems about the same as 3 to me, but maybe with more complicated patrol routes that cover the bases better. FC3 had a lot of guys hanging out on the perimeter with what seemed like less complicated patrol routes and often times nobody patroling at all as I recall.

Is this really the case? For me, the alarm only triggers when somebody sees me. Otherwise, I can take out all of them with the bow and even if they see someone dying it still doesn't count towards the alarm.
Of course, I firmly believe that the best strategy in liberating outposts is stealthly taking out the alarms with the bow and then finishing off the guards with an assault rifle.

I get all these same situations PLUS and the same time; I get mauled by a lion and/or leopard during the process. Don't know if it's a sound/audio glitch; BTW all soudcard drivers are up to date; but I hardley hear these animals approaching. On 1 ocassion I heard the growl of a lion but that is far and few in between. If it's a bear I hear it all the time but these two are very quite and deadly. I guess you just have to stay on your toes in this game and that's what makes it fun and challenging.

exactly right. An alarm is only triggered if they see you

I myself found a good way to get rid of some of the stealth: when you get across the bridge to the North immedeatly go and liberate all of the remaining bell towers. This unlocks unique MG42 at the shops and it easily kills literally anything, including choppers. Most of the game turns into Return to Castle Paganstein! Heck, I took out Pagan's fortress by direct assault and then took out all of the reinforcements before I actually killed Pagan.

Agreed.

If an enemy sees you before the take down, and lets out a little shout/gurgle that others hear, or if you don't hide the body and it is found -- the guards will all freak out and start looking for you. They will give up eventually and return to their patrol routes if they don't find any more bodies or see you.

If they actually see you they will run for the alarm... sometimes even if only one of the dogs sees you.
