Far Cry 4 Black Screen/not responding, really need help.

I've been trying to play Far Cry 4 for almost 2 weeks and it keeps freezing, the screen turns black, and I have to alt+tab out to the task manager to close my now 'not responding' game. This is getting extremely annoying because my GPU drivers are up to date, I validated my files 3 times (repaired it when it found corrupted files the first time), I unplugged all USB devices except my keyboard and mouse, and I don't know what else to do. Seems like there are no good answers out there so can I please get some help? :/

I have it on Uplay, not Steam (got it from an Nvidia redemption code).

I'll post any information you need just please help me.

then clik system information

let that load , only take a few seconds

once that loads with your system information

right clik on that

select all

then right clik agian select copy

then when you post back

either shut em off or reconfig it to work with far cry 4 and play nice

if that dont work ... your gonna have to try to find the software that Far Cry 4 does not like thats auto loading with your windows and Far Cry 4 does not want in the back round .. try to limit the number of overlays your running onm your machine as well

Background Applications
You may also encounter problems due to applications running in the background on your computer system. When playing Ubisoft games, please be sure to close all running background applications before starting your game. You can find the steps for this listed below.

- Open your start menu and look for Run (Win XP), Start search (Win Vista), or Search programs and files (Win 7)
- Delete anything on the Open line that you'll find there, and type in the word MSCONFIG and press the Enter key to bring up the system configuration utility
- Look down the list of startup items (not the tab labeled Startup), and choose Selective Startup (if it is not already selected) (If you don't see this, make sure you've clicked on General, near the top of the window)
- Once you've chosen Selective Startup, uncheck 'Load Startup Items'
- Once you're done here, click Apply & OK, and let it reboot your computer
- Once restarted, make sure that any application that affects your local network is disabled

Try running the game again. If the game loads and seems to be working, the problem is most likely related to one or more programs you have scheduled to load with Windows. You can then revert the settings back the way they were, and in a trial and error fashion, disable some programs using the startup tab (in the msconfig utility) to try to find the culprit.

*Keep in mind that this is a temporary solution and any changes can be reverted by returning to the MSCONFIG utility and re-selecting 'Normal Startup"

I uninstalled Afterburner and Riva so now I'm gonna try rebooting and playing and see if it crashes. It usually only makes it about 5 minutes. If it still crashes I'll try disabling background applications like you said. I'll report back in a few minutes.

No, I bought the code from someone who got it with their Nvidia card but didn't want it. I just tried starting a new game after uninstalling Afterburner and Riva and it did the same thing so now I'm gonna try disabling startup items through msconfig and running it like you said. I'll report back again in a few.

well you could also try the newer AMD beta drivers they might be better .. dunno i got rid of my R9 270X and bought a GTX 960

but the last drivers i used were the beta ones and i completed the game twice with that card in

I was able to play for a lot longer after disabling startup items but it just froze again :/. Should I uncheck 'load system services' too, under Selective startup in msconfig, and try again? And yeah I may have to try the beta drivers. I feel like I've had so many problems with running games on this PC.

i mean this game if ya set the settings too high i could see it pushing temps on some hardware

what in game settings are you useing what card ya got ?

if your useing soft shadows try setting that down to high

I've got an R9 280x and this last time it was running on high, fullscreen, with v-sync enabled (I had really bad screen-tearing) when it crashed. I was still getting smooth 60 frames so it doesn't seem like it was straining anything, but it may be heat. Is there anything I can monitor it with besides afterburner?

And should I try unchecking load system services, as well as startup items, in msconfig and restarting again? This last time I had only unchecked 'load startup items'.
