Memory your can install it if you have at least 4 gig i would reccomend you have 8 gig
you also will need a Decent Direct X 11 Graphics Card with at least a gig of DDR 5 Ram as some laptop ones are not supported as they fall below the minimum system requirements , Hardware wise .
you also must have a 64 bit operating system . thats another thing that was not required for Far Cry 3 ..it is with Far Cry 4
Minimum supported Intel CPU is a quad core

Hi M8, I know all that...
and yes the question was about a intel quad core cpu, ram and gpu are all above specs, only worry is the CPU at 2.4...thats why I asked if anyone actually used such setups...I know what the min/rec specs are...
if that helps answer your question .. i get about avg 40 to 50 FPS for a GTX 960 so there does not seem to be much if any bottleneck using my old core 2 quad
the system with the 7750 card i run the game with med textures in 720 P never checked FPS
or bothered to bench it .. it runs decent enough to play up to 1600 X 900
i have 8 gig of DDR 2 800 ram as well and run on Win 10 Pro 64 on my two system with the GTX 960's and run with most settings on Ultra
the Dell with theQ6600 and 7750 system runs win 7 64 bit and 6 gig of ram and run it on like i said medium detail settings (cant fit the R9 270x in that box tho)
if you have a similar Intel CPU you should be ok sir (on an AMD quad core i dunno as i do also have a laptop with an A10 5750 / AMD 8650 G quad core CPU but the video card in it sucks ,, only plays on low settings )
i posted the way i did as alot of people buy the game and try to run it on Dual core CPU's they will not work as many of the games assests seem to run off core #3
if you open the map edit program it seems to shift to the #4 core at least on my setup
and the system requirements for this game are higher then they were for Far Cry 3 as this game uses a more modified version of the Dunia 2 engine
many seem to think just because it has the same engine that the system requirements should be the same ..they are not
a few Intel Hyperthreaded Dual core cpu's have been reported to work fine as well ... like some I3's but with slightly reduced performance as the 3rd CPU core is a hypertheaded one on those CPU's
or be said of the Pentium G series Dual cores
bottom line i try to buy an Intel Always over AMD and yes my old Core 2 Quad i did not expect to work with the game ..but it does
and i cant count how many posts i have answered in this and other forums from people that think the game will run on the laptop they bought for $500
Now I see it, my bad.
i found out a long time ago staying on the cutting edge of tech you usually get burnt ..i still have a system in my storage room with voodoo 5 5500 in it ..that card alone was $550 ..it lasted what ? a year ......if that ? ..never again will i try to build a $2k + system ..hell back then you didnt even wanna see what ram prices were
i take your comment as me being a hardware badass as a compliment too sir .. i have been building computers since 1981 ..my first job was working for commodore building Vic 20's
so you can say i kinda have a lil bit of experience ...with computers
Thanks for the info, I was planing on upgrading to a Q9650...but could not find one at a decent price, and I have the same spu you mentioned with a better GPU...so looks like it should run fine.
Thanks for all the info.
Agreed, the Q6600 was and still is an amazing cpu, I did not even think of overclocking it yet...was rather hoping to find a Q9650 and oc that, if needed...but so far I did not like the prices...and I agree as to the "i" series, its not worth it yet... I might hold off untill 2017, or atleast to see what AMD brings to the table...although I doubt they will really turn the tables on intel. So far the last best investment I can reccomend to all is a good SSD, it really helps out a lot (not only in gaming)
if you dont mind me asking waht frames are you getting in witcher 3? Was thinking on holding off on its purcahse till I upgrade my CPU atleast to a Q9650. Since I bet my gpu shoul dbe fine with atleast medium high, or high visuals.
Witcher 3 i got free with my GTX 960 (non Steam game )
and yes these old Q6600's are tanks and over clock very well .. the Intel 9650 's CPUs are dropping in price .. my brother paid like $120 for the one in my other system .. i have seen em drop lower ..but i'd still rather have an I 5 or I 7 and move up to DDR 3 ..but for now what i have .....has been working
i dunno if you are in the USA but lowest price i saw for the Q 9650 was here .. the Q 9550
intel CPU is under $60 US $
https://starmicroinc.net/intel-cpu-processors/intel-desktop-cpu/intel-core-2-quad/
the Q9650 my brother bought was priced well over $120 ..its down lower that now and you can find em on e bay and even amazon for under $80 ..again depends on if your mother board and bios support em ..and no matter what .. your better off going to an I 5 / I 7 sytem and DDR 3 / 4
but to answer your question yes ...FAR CRY 4 runs fine on an old Q6600 if you have a good vid card
if you have a GTX 970 or an amd R 9 380 ,,yea your gonna see a bottleneck .........and you will be like me thinking .. yea its time to upgrade to get over 1080 P
I saw the Q9650 out for $60 was still contemplating and it was gone on amazon...now its around $70/$80...kind of regret not jumping on it ..but oh well, its not like its super important..its only gaming ;) I planned to get a 9650 so that I could comfortably wait for the 8 core cpu's to come out in 2016 or 2017...ish...and then be good for another 6 /10+ years :)
thats why i didnt upgrade yet ..if ya want 6 to 10 YEARS
but i do know socket 775 is outdated and no longer has suppport
I know but a 9650 will get me a nice 2 more years...atleast one, if I OC it to about 3.4 or so. After that ill go for an octacore. Somethig that will come after Cabylake, since current skylake is underwhelming...and by the looks of things well see a nice jump to 8 cores being more common in 2.5 to 3 years. After all 775 shipsets were around back i 2006...so 10 years from a single mobo is not bad ;-) I upped from dual core before, to quad, but a faster quad with some oc should give me anoher 2 years (stretchign it till proper cpu's arrive on the market)
Since frankly there arent any games out there that I really even want to play so far for 2015, or 2016...maybe besides the ashes of singularity game, but so far it feels like its more of a tech demo than a proper game from what I heard...
