Far Cry 4 Sound issues, not with Surround (5.1) [FIXED]
Couldn't find an answer for this, sorry if it already has been answered...

Not sure what happened between the last time I played Far Cry 4 and now, however I'm getting an issue with what looks like an identified audio bug, but it has nothing to do with surround sound.

Like other people, the start-up sequence for the game (showing NVIDIA, etc.) the sound is EXTREMELY diminished. On the main screen, sound effects to choose options (load game, neew game, etc) are just fine, but as soon as I start a new game the cutscene noise is again extremely diminished.

After looking at other sources online, I have no idea what to do...I've uninstalled/reinstalled Fary Cry 4, Uplay, audio driver, and done multiple updates to DirectX in case that was the issue.

I've also verified (I was already using it) that I'm on Stereo for audio channel, and my headset is plugged in directly to the audio card.

Any thoughts or new things to try? Let me know if you need more details about anything please.

Sorry I didn't explain the 'between the last time I played,' but I bought the game close to when it came out, and played it with the audio working just fine for a couple of months, then didn't play for quite some time...I wanted to go back to it and start a game from scratch, and noticed the issue. So I'm not sure what has changed from when I bought to now, as it was a little while ago.

have your tried to change the audio format in Windows

right click on your speaker icon in your task bar

select playback devices

select your sound card or (default playback device )

right click on it select properties

then go to the Advanced tab and change to sound format

mine is set to 16 bit , 44100 Hz cd quality

if that oprion is not there try change to other available settings

also make sure in settings for play back devices that you do not have your video cards HDMI audio set to the default Playback device (unless of course your not using a soundcard)
and want your sound to come from your monitors speakers (if it has them)

No HDMI, and sound format is 16 bit, 44100 Hz....Also uninstalled AC3 audio filter that I had for watching .mkv files, still nothing.

Thanks for the quick response.

FIXED FIXED FIXED!!!

FINALLY

ok SO: in playback devices, had everything there disabled except the one I was using, however the NVIDIA audio drivers in "DEVICE MANAGER" weren't disabled (yes I know I'm retarded), however I disabled them there, started game, and everything was still quiet...However this time EVERTYHING was quiet, including sounds/music in the main menu. After that just boosted master volume for the game, restarted game, and all sound works appropriately!

Thanks for the help, if anyone else is experiencing these issues and tried most found fixes, be sure to check audio drivers in device manager and ensure everything but the one you are using is disabled.
