Bow with reflex sight and explosive\ fire arrows = best loadout for me
My experience concluded after about 3 full playthroughs that the stats in the weapon select menu are nothing but vague, unreliable guidelines and that my favorite weapon, the bow, is rendered practically useless after the first half of the game.
---
My original loadout is:
1st slot: P416 or Vector ACP
2nd slot: D2 (sidearm shotgun) or D50
3nd slot: Hunter Bow (even though the Recurve Bow is sadly better in every way, Hunter Bow gains bonus points for style)
4th slot: RPG or MKG
As soon as I gaint access to the North then the damage of the bow is no longer enough to reliably hit the opponents in 1 hit, even with the Overdose Syringe.
Considering its status as a stealth weapon, this renders it completely useless for me.
Therefore I replace the bow with a Z93.
I also tend to replace the MKG with the MG42(non-signature Buzzsaw) because despite the loadout screen claiming it's only slightly more accurate, it's simply far better and more mobile than the MKG in every way.
However, I really needed something for medium range firefights and I just wasn't good enough with the Recurve Bow for that. So when I unlocked the MKG, that became my primary weapon for close & medium range fights. It's great for killing hostile animals that come out of nowhere so it replaced the shotgun.
I was thinking of replacing the Recurve Bow with a silenced Sniper Rifle but I'd lose the great helicopter-killing explosive arrows. I'm really bad at taking out helicopters with the M79...plus it's always nice to kill an enemy with that nice bow :)
When I'm all unlocked, M79, warrior, Buzzsaw, Z93.
I rarely bother with throwables other than Molotov's.
