PC Shuts Off
So I've been playing FC4 perfectly fine until I unlocked the arena, and I've been playing the arena to get to level 10 for the bushwack. At level 9 Arena, Far Cry 4 decides to shut off my PC, and I would need to unplug my PSU cord and plug it back in so my PC would start.

sounds like your power supply is failing .. get it checked out asap as once it goes it can take out other components too , like your video card , not to mention the damage that can happen to your hard drive or even your mainboard .. happened to my brothers system a few years ago .. when the PSU finally went .. it took out everything , mainboard , CPU , vid card and even his system ram chips got overvolted and never worked again

even quality power supplys fail sometimes (especially if its older)

also monitor your system temps .. it could be shutting down due to heat

so try cleaning all your components as too much dust in your case can impede its ability to keep your stuff cool

It sounds like the psu might be over heating or failing but like WID99 says blow out the whole pc while you're at it including the psu and see if it continues shutting off.

OTP - Overtemperature protection, might explain why unplugging it resets it.

yea check your thermal solution on your CPU too as usually with a graphics card it will throttle and downclock before it crashes , and usually not shut off your whole PC

it could need a re-apply of thermal paste as yes if a CPU gets too hot it might shut off as upcoast said ..

and if your overclocking anything set your clocks back to STOCK you may have went too high
かず・サン Jan 19, 2016 @ 12:30pm
Well, it used to shut off due to overheatting. I cleaned my PC and removed a lot of dust. I didn't overclock anything unless my CPU came overclocked already. I was thinking it was my PSU, but ever since that shut off incident. I wanted to test launch the game again, but it would show the "Far Cry 4" logo then continue to shut off my PC. My build is probably about 1 years old.

if FarCry 4 will no longer launch

CLOSE all backround applications as there are several that can conflict with the game
see the troubleshooting tips section Pinned to the top of the forums

and ... Launch Steam as an Administrator and verify your game files

To verify your files if you bought the game thru Steam ..\EXIT Steam ..right click your steam icon ..select run as Administrator

launch Steam

go to your Steam games library

right clik on far cry 4

select properties

select local files

select verify Integrity of game cache

it takes a few min to do but its faster the redownloading your entire game , if its only a few files that were corrupt or installed incorrectly .... this in many cases will fix your problems

If you continue to have issues PLEASE open a support ticket with Ubisoft Support at https://support.ubi.com by clicking on My Questions in the upper left corner of that page.

It manage to touch the "in game world" and then shut down the PC. Not sure if it's NVIDEA stuff because I've heard some things mess up because of that or PSU. I'll try contacting Ubisoft whenever.
-=SOF=-WID99 Jan 19, 2016 @ 2:39pm
call em on the phone is the fastest support option

post your steam system info file and i'll look it over , in case you may be missing one stupid thing that may be open on your system and not allowing the game to properly launch

look up top in steam look for where it says Help (right above the word LIBRARY)

clik on that (it will open a drop down menu)

then clik system information

let that load , only takes a few seconds

once that loads with your system information

right clik on that

then select all

then right clik again select copy

then when you post back

right clik and select paste on your reply

also what wattage and make \ model is your power supply and video card ?
(it should have a label on the PSU with a model # MFR info and wattage )

have you tried another PSU unit ?

since PC shut downs can be traced alot of the time to like i already said, a power supply thats on its way out , sadly nothing lasts forever , and a cheap PSU unit is what cost my brother his entire PC

Kaspersky Total Security < CHECK ITS SETTINGS some antivirus programs can block acess depending on your settings

Cheat Engine 6.4 < make sure this is disabled and not autoloading with windows

Operating System Version:
Windows 10 (64 bit) < make sure you are launching both Uplay as well as Steam as
Run As Administrator

also was your Windows 10 a clean install or an upgrade install > ?

if it was installed as an Upgrade from win 7 or 8 \ 8.1
make sure you re install ALL of your Drivers .. the windows 10 driver models may be differnt depending on your hardware , i had to reinstall drivers on both my laptop as well as my desktop when i did my initial upgrade to Windows 10 , never trust that microsoft correctly detected and installs the right drivers on any Upgrade

i then wiped the upgrade install and performed a clean install of windows 10 and all drivers
when i had problems with the Star Wars Beta (was a bad sound driver win 10 installed as well as bad video drivers for my GTX 960 )

since your running SLI (Tho it says no SLI detected ??? )
since it says
Number of Logical Video Cards: 2

i would also suggest you disable one card and unplug it . it may be that your themaletake 600 Watt PSU is a bit too low for SLI 760's and not giving enough to run both cards at full power on the 12 volt rail
if card 2 is your intel chipset video try to disable it in your bios

if card #2 is an older Nvidia Fermi GPU pull it as thats not supported with the current Nvidia windows 10 drivers
see https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/862424/geforce-drivers/windows-10-faq-and-driver-installation-tips-/

Windows 10 will not load the NVIDIA display driver for my older graphics card in my PC that has multiple graphics cards

NVIDIA provides Windows 10 driver support for our Maxwell, Kepler (select GeForce 600 series, GeForce 700 series and above GPUs) and Fermi class GPUs (GeForce 400 series, GeForce 500 series and select Geforce 600 series GPUs). Maxwell and Kepler GPU architectures support Windows 10 WDDM 2.0 mode with support for Fermi coming at a later date.

At the time of Windows 10 launch, the GeForce Fermi architecture operates in WDDM 1.3 mode. Since it is not possible to load both NVIDIA WDDM 2.0 and 1.3 mode drivers at the same time, you will not be able to mix Fermi class GPU(s) with Kepler/Maxwell class GPUs. If your PC has a combination of both a Fermi class GPU and Kepler/Maxwell class GPU, the WDDM mode that loads will depend on which card will POST first.

Please refer to this article for more information on WDDM versions and compatiblity: Compatibility info

http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001656

says here it has 50 amps which should be enough .. but it is a pretty cheap power supply

but try it with only one GPU and see if it works

also try disableing the Uplay in game overlay in Uplay settings

or the Steam in game overlay in Steams settings

also is this the game Evolve < or is it the Evolve gameing client software

if its this > https://www.evolvehq.com/welcome

yes that will cause the game to crash on launch and has been reported to do so so make sure thats not loaded when you launch FarCry 4

I did an upgrade for my Windows 10, and I'm pretty sure it's clean. I set my Kaspersky to allow FC4. What's strange that you found is 2 GPUs? I only have 1 plugged in which is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760.

* Cheat Engine and Evolve (Client) isn't running unless I play minecraft or something.
* If it is my Windows 10 being faulty. I'm unsure how to clean install it without a disc; unless I get a bootup USB.
* I've never had this problem with other high end games like Starcraft 2, Dead Space 3, Far Cry 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, etc.

I find it kind of strange that I need to run Uplay/Steam on Administrator when I was able to play 14 hours of gameplay without that.
-=SOF=-WID99 Jan 19, 2016 @ 3:41pm
if your system does that full shutdown thing again i would suggest you pull that thermaltake PSU its got a 5 yr warranty (i have used those in the past )
and RMA it back to themaltake ..they do make good stuff .. but you might have got stinker out of the bunch ..and yea it happens ....

full PC shutdowns are not something you want if its just a failing PSU, try getting it tested

dunno the WIN 10 upgrade thing you can get away with .. just check all your drivers over real good

the 2nd GPU may be the intel one on your I7 a 600 watt is more then fine for a single card

and i have run into quite a few folks who had to run Steam as an Admin to get FarCry 4 to work with Win 10

also check into shutting off any in game overlays as some have reported sucess from that
