some cable modems do have an internal firewall also that you may need to configure
same goes for both clients with Windows firewall settings too

everyone complains about co op . every time i tried it with my buddie it worked fine
once he disabled the internal firewall in his cable modem
Tried things like port forwarding (and just using DMZ) last night and the issue continued, but then we were able to play Valley of the Yetis about an hour after I posted this thread and tried Escape from Durgesh this morning, which is also working.
Thanks for the info anyhow.
You will create a network and your buddy will join to the network and then it should work just fine
