Bypass UBISOFT CONNECT
I recently acquired a gaming PC, and one of the games I am eager to revisit is the Far Cry series.

Previously, I played it on a PlayStation console. One of the advantages of playing on a PC is the ability to use a keyboard and mouse, which I recently find very comfortable.

However, I am frustrated by the need to use Ubisoft Connect. This launcher often encounters errors, and I sometimes have to change my IP address using a VPN. Even then, changing the VPN doesn't always solve the problem.

how to bypass it?

UbiSoft Launcher is the worst. The last update of the launcher must have wiped or lost all my progress. Still have the FC4 folder under Documents\My Games\ but it only contains a handful of setting files. After 137 hours of playing and completing most of the map, but not the entire game, am I gutted over this. What a horrible piece of software this is.

that's your fault you left cloud saves on in ubi settings

turn that crap off man its not that hard to back up your own saves and you should never trust any cloud \

if your that lazy use game save manager
https://www.gamesave-manager.com/

if save data is important to you .. back it up

that's part of owning a PC for gods sake

DO you need to understand how it works ???

with the steam version of the game, saves your game to

C:\ Program files X86 \ Ubisoft \ Ubisoft game launcher \savegames \ *a folder with a long series
of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 856

the Uplay only version they go in
C:\ Program files X86 \ Ubisoft \ Ubisoft game launcher \savegames \ *a folder with a long series
of letters and numbers Varies from system to system* \ 420

and yes you can back up multiple saves just cut and paste em back in if you wish to replay a mission or part of the game

takes 30 seconds ..

ubi connect works fine

always write down the e mail you use and passwords you use

stick only 1 ubi account for all ubi games

just like ya do with steam

ALWAYS WRITE DOWN E MAILS YOU USE AND PASSWORDS YOU USE WHEN YOU CREATE ANY ONLINE ACCOUNT DO NOT SHARE THOSE WITH ANYONE

if you lost internet access or switch providers and get a new e mail contact ubi support and provide proof of ownership of the account .. STEAM WORKS THE EXACT SAME FREAKING WAY

if you log into a different account no your games will not be available

and yes ubi connect is required as it tracks your progress , provides cloud saves (id turn them off but that's me ) it also provides all in game achievements ..not steam ...........as well as all MULTIPLAYER AND CO OP CONNECTION) is done via ubi connect .. NOT STEAM , thus its required

also if you are not playing co op or MP for far cry 4 open ubi connect log in to your account

click on your name in the upper right

in the drop down select go offline

ubi connect will them start in offline mode

play your game

if you wish to play co op or multiplayer or have achievements on your ubi account or cloud saves yea you will need to leave it on online mode

as they are tracked only in online mode

but yes you can still play your single player game in offline mode

you just have to back up your own saves

Thank you for your all response. It seems that Ubisoft games are more suitable for me when played on the PlayStation.

Luckily, I purchased this FC4 during the summer sale, which was quite fortunate.

Cloud saves are off, always have been. But even if, how the f' would it be my fault when their software is meant to make this safe and sound to use? You just like to suck up to Ubi, don't you? You sooner make this a fault of the player for wanting software to be safe before you admit that its the software's fault.

i have literally had the game installed over 9 years
its installed on 5 totally different PC configurations here

never had a problem like you are describing

always backed up my own saves .. never had an issue

never had a problem with UPLAY or UBI connect that a simple reinstall of the software...... if its outdated would not fix

if you still have PROBLEMS CONTACT UBI SUPPORT as it sounds like your PC is messed up man if it can't run a simple client ..

And this means what?

Ubi connect is awful, I agree. offline mode is non-functional which mean if I take my steam deck outside Far Cry 4 just refuses to start. Unofficial and console copies don't have this problem but screw me for being a paying customer right?

I just decided to buy it on the Uplay app for one penny more so I didn't have to launch the game twice. Luckily I have very few issues with Uplay so it tends to work well for me. But I'm definitely not a fan of the way they changed their Uplay Points to a timed scheme where they disappear after a while. On the other hand all the little in-game items you could buy with them before were automatically unlocked.

But yeah, like I said, I bought it directly from Uplay and do so all the time since any Ubisoft game on sale on Steam is always on sale there and it's just less of a hassle to do that.
