Need help game restarts pc
I've had some problems with Far cry 4 and i've done everything I can. Yeah I know it's a 10 year old game but I was revisiting it and my problem Is the game will completely reboot my pc no matter what, I've seen other people with this same problem but most of the posts are old so I think this is new issue, its not a overheating issue tho my temps rarely cross 70C and its not my power supply as I stress tested it and it was fine, I don't overclock at all. its isn't outdated drivers as I updated my CPU and GPU drivers and it still happens. I went into my event viewer and all it says is my pc didn't shut down properly. and this is pretty recent I think as I played this in 2022 and it worked fine. So I think its a problem with the game. It happens randomly some times it crashes at the start sometimes it will be 30 mins. my specs are

CPU Brand: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700K

Just for reference - I hadn't played this in awhile so I just tested and it seemed to run fine. I had just wanted to test because there weren't any other replies. My CPU and GPU are much lower than yours too.

Probably not related but I did have a problem with Far Cry 5 when I first started playing about a year or so ago where it would crash to desktop or just lock the system. It turned out to be the game using my integrated graphics card instead of my Nvidia card. I had first tried to force the game to use my Nvidia card via Nvidia Control Panel but it wasn't working for some reason. I ended up having to change a number in a text document in the game's folder. A Far Cry 5 profile document. That seemed to force the game to use my Nvidia card and I never had crash to desktop since. I think the solution was on reddit from memory.

With that being said, I had never had that problem with Far Cry 4. Just thought I'd mention it is all. Good luck.

Stress test with what ?
OCCT is the best to make sure you burn
Also you can combine it with something in the meantime for a short time just cuz why not

Similar issue i had when my capacitors blow on my motherboard and my PSU lost 12v rail...
Had to fix the by hand ...i hate to RMA stuff

Actually it was my power supply I don't know why it didn't shut down during my stress test I think its because it closed out to early

Lucky you found it. I think I recently had the same problem. I swear every 3 years my psu dies like clockwork.

Most stress tests only stress the CPU. A power supply needs to be strong enough to power CPU, GPU, memory and drives.

For example, a Ryzen 5950X has a TDP of 105W, but it actually draws 200W under max. load. With PBO enabled and a good motherboard can it draw up to 240W. Intel CPUs draw even more power. No idea what your CPU can draw at maximum, you will have to research this. The number I have found is 190W for your i7.

The RTX3070Ti will draw up to 290W, with slight overclocking likely 310W.

You can add another 50W for mainboard, memory, and drives. You will need at least 550W net.

Power supplies themselves do not work perfectly, but have an efficiency factor as well as a point of highest efficiency. Depending on the standard of the PSU (gold, platinum, etc.) will you need to scale the total power value further up. I.e. at ~80% efficiency (bronze) will you need a power supply with a 690W rating. A PSU with 90% efficieny (platinum) needs to have a 610W rating.

I have a similar problem. I have an old 600W power supply on it's way out. If I push my system it reboots if I down clock my system or put it in power saving mode while gaming it's fine. Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB, RX580
