that some files did not install correctly
To verify your files if you bought the game thru Steam ..\EXIT Steam ..right click your steam icon ..select run as Administrator
to launch Steam
then go to your Steam games library
right clik on far cry 4
select properties
select local files
select verify Integrity of game cache
it takes a few min to do but its faster the redownloading your entire game , if its only a few files that were corrupt or installed incorrectly .... this in many cases will fix your problems
Still no luck, so you think uninstalling and reinstalling will do the trick?
My system info:
Processor Information:
Vendor: AuthenticAMD
CPU Family: 0x15
CPU Model: 0x2
CPU Stepping: 0x0
CPU Type: 0x0
Speed: 3800 Mhz
4 logical processors < --- hyperthreded thread
2 physical processors < -----dedicated core
yea the game will run on a hyperthreaded dual core Intel I 3 \ I 5 \ I 7 .. but you may see decreased performance , as a hyprthreaded thread is not as good as a real dedicated core
also make sure you exit ALL backround applications before you play the game
and make sure your not running any of the Nvidia gameworks settings , they got busted over a year ago in the drivers and can cause FarCry 4 to crash
see the troubleshooting tips section Pinned to the top of the forums
works perfect here , played thru the game over 20 times no crashing
I made it through the first Shangri-la quest by rushing it.
It's fine now. But, yes, verifying my game files was the first thing I did. I did it more than once actually. It's pretty much my go to thing if I have a problem. By the way someone already suggested this to me 5 months ago. The only thing that fixed my Shangri La missions from crashing was by turning Godrays off. No one ever told me to run in administrator other than to do a one time fix.... I'm not running steam by right clicking on it everyday..... You had nothing helpful to say at all by the way. Not even saying you played through it 20 times was helpful.... The only thing helpful was something already suggested....
Not even close to being helpful... Again this is from 5 months ago. If I still had the problem how would rushing through it help? To quote what I said, "once I enter the portal and engage the demons it crashes, just stops working," How will "rushing" through it fix this? How would that have any more of a posititive effect????
If that doesn't work, I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling your drivers.
I had moved FC4 from my HDD (which was working fine) to my SSD in hopes of making it faster. However, after I did that, after I killed 4 enemies in a row during the Hurk elephant quest, the game would crash. It would be fine during normal encounters or even before I got on the elephant. But after, it would crash. Try deleting the game and reinstalling it, too. These are all just shots in the dark, though. Hope it works out. FC4 is a great game, and I hope you can resume playing it.
Hey! Thank you for sharing what steps you have taken to get the game to stop crashing for you.
Was there any other steps that you tried?
Thank you.
