Can't connect to invited session, help please!

So whenever I try to join an invited session, it says that I couldn't join and that I need to try again. Same goes for the other player when I invite them. We have no idea how to fix it. I heard that you can use Hamachi but I don't know how that would work. It has been extremely annoying and we need help.

I'm sorry that you are unable to join sessions. Yourself and the other player should run through the steps in this FAQ:

Essentially if you forward the correct ports and have an open NAT, you should be able to play together.

I understand that I need to change the ports and NAT type, but do I need to disable my firewall? Isn't disabling firewalls dangerous?
